Train sounds boxcar

Has anybody had problems with Trainsounds cars? I got the B&O 6-26860 steam sounds car. It sounded erratic at first with sounds coming and going, bell staying on, then after a few minutes shut down entirely. A couple tries later the only sound was a quick pop.
