I want to say thanks to Greg for starting this many moons ago. I was privileged to have car pass through my railway back in 2005.
I also hosted the car back in 2006. Seems like so long ago. Would love to host it again someday.
Nutz. River City 3 Railers was looking forward to hosting it.
But I do understand. The logistics must have been a handful.

I don't understand. I thought the 'Traveling Boxcar' was just shipped randomly among folks with layouts. Why did that take any management?

Was a fun project!

Earl,
Many times, its arrival was to coincide with an event such as a convention or open house which took some fancy scheduling sometimes. I believe its planning was made more difficult when some hosts were not very punctual about sending it on to the next event. I can see where problems could arise.
But, I'm very proud to have been a host during the layout tour portion of the 2006 LOTS convention. Thank you, Greg.

I got to host it in September 2004 and September 2010 our our modular club's layout.
I also had it on my layout and the OGR test track in September 2004.
I love seeing all these posts. Maybe someone will want to get involved and help put the Traveling Boxcar back on the rails. Lets all just keep it in the back of our minds and maybe someday it will come up again. I would be happy to help in the future with some other person(s) participation.
For now, it was just falling too much on me and my busy schedule.
Thanks everyone for all the fun.
Greg
