Back in Feb. of 2015 I posted a problem a friend was having running multiple engines on the same train.  Everything seemed to load okay and actually ran for a couple of days.  Then it started.  Engine not found, run a short distance and then stop.  Run engines separately and everything fine, including in conventional.  he tried everything including clearing out all files in his DCS for the engines, talking to MTH and still every thing was screwed up.  This past month or so a friend suggested he try a brand new AIU and handheld.  Presto, after entering his engines he now runs multiple engines on the same train and they work just like the real thing.  He said he had his older AIU's and handheld upgraded several times in the past.  He and I are now thinking that either the AIU or handheld become confused because of the multiple upgrades over time, or just to much in the memory for the AIU and handheld to handle.  Just passing on some info and thanking everyone who commented back in 2015 to my entry.

First, it's TIU not AIU.

Second, he possibly had (ands still has) a loose transceiver board in either the TIU, remote or both. Operating with the remote and TIU tethered (connected) would have turned. that up in short order. I have difficulty believing that MTH support didn't suggest that almost immediately.

Barry,

First you are correct, I misspoke when I said AIU instead of TIU.  I do know better.  I appreciate your suggestion and will pass it on to my friend.  I know for sure he has not tried that test.  However, I do know for sure he did talk to MTH a couple of times to which one time they told him the new version of DCS was partly created to correct his problem as they have heard about it from several other hobbyist.  This is why I love this forum as there is always someone willing to help no matter how dumb the question is.  Thank you again and thank you for your dedication and love for the hobby.
