Trouble with Rail King PS1 engine | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I just bought a used Rail King Southern Alco engine. I have a MTH Z4000 transformer Power the loco up and everything is fine. Press the direction button and the engine wont move but the engine sound speeds up and slows down just as it should as you advance and retard the throttle. Go back to neutral then reverse and it backs up fine. I have tried it out on a different track with a different transformer and same thing happens. I have a lot of MTH locos with PS1, 2 & 3 and this is the first time I have had this problem. Previous owner says he checked it out and it ran fine. Can someone help? Thanks. Dave easair@charter.net

Needs a transistor changed most likely on bottom board.
