Im in the process of laying out my MHR TT and I have some concerns. The main concern is accessibility between the TT area and the right hand wall. I bought a Ross #10 which doesn't get me out and away from the main fast enough so I'm thinking a #6 may do the trick. Thoughts? Also, how big of an area around the TT should I leave for trackage, roundhouse, etc. I also have the room to pull the TT back toward the window if it will open things up, which would get the switch lead out of the stair well. Any other problems you foresee? Suggestions please, I feel like I'm flying blind here.

Nice work.  Looks like your using a finished attic room, I have a similiar set up i.e. the finished attic. How big is your TT? Maybe using the#6 switch so it doesn't have to go over stairway. Does the switch lead to the TT clear headroom on your stairs?

I m planning atlas TT which is smaller 24" and I'm planning on 4'x 5' area with roundhouse.

Greg,

I went through a similar situation a few months ago. In my case, I had not planned a turntable, so its inclusion presented a bit of a challenge.

You can see the layout plan changes and the various alternatives considered here, towards the bottom of the third page and the top of the fourth.

And here you can see what I did to make the turntable double as a hatch. This has worked out great; especially for aligning the tracks around the turntable.

Good luck!
