In case anyone has mistakenly ordered a unipolar TVS like 1.5KE36A instead of the correct bipolar version 1.5KE36CA you can still use them if you take two and wire them back to back. I tried it by connecting both anodes together and tested it by putting a lamp in series with them and connecting it to a variac and they behave like a single bi polar TVS.

I doubt it matters if both anodes or both cathodes are tied together.

Good news for me as I discovered a stash of about 100 or the unipolar variety.
