1. I am brand new to DCS. I have Hudson steam E4 (4-8-4) Pilot sample that will run with the Z-4000 transformer, BUT the remote will not find or add the engine. 2. E8 ABA that the remote will find and add as an engine, BUT will not start. (lights are on, announcements are heard, whistle and bells). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes to both. Could the E8 be "stuck" in neutral mode?
1..Start over .. reset tiu with Menu/System/Tiu set up/reset tiu/Factory reset. Now reset the remote with..... Menu/System/remote set up/reset remote.... Verify the remote is communicating with the tiu by pressing the "read" (bottom left on dcs remote), you should get something like " tiu #1 found. no aiu box connected"
2..Place the E-4 on the track and try and add it first with no other engines on the track.
If it adds remove it from the track and try adding the E-8 good luck
