I was writing Mr. Jerry Kimble at Atlas if we were going to get a run of Union Pacific U23 b. There maybe one in the future if the truck design can be changed from the present model.  But I can't see one any time soon, couple of years,  as they are just now releasing a run of them and adding another run so soon seems unlikely. He did say that they would come with smoke, and that makes me recall a photo I saw of one and be nice for an outdoor exhibit.  http://www.rrpicturearchives.n...ture.aspx?id=2534904.   I think a run of this model in Union Pacific would sell but finding a handfull of other popular roadnames to release with it maybe harder as we go deeper into the ownership of these units. But, as a B truck design in O scale and a model they have patterns for it seems possible. Years are not on my side and waiting for a model isn't high on my list. if it happens it happens. Like the smoke outside and not in the house. Cough cough.

Thanks for the update. Unfortunately, I am a bit perplexed on this comment because Atlas O has BOTh typeds of truck styles in their present models:

  • Type AAR Truck found on the u23b /C424/C425 models and
  • Type FB [Floating Bolster] truck on their b40-8 & B40-8w's.
  • What Truck design changes need to be made?

And what do you mean by this comment?

The B23-7 was a very popular B-B unit in the 1980's and 1990's. These units were fond on many of the super 7 class i's in this country. Many of them went to secondary short line rr's  after their initial class I jobs:
