Well I thought that today I might post what you could say was..."a face only a mother could love". The Union Pacific M10,000 articulated streamliner by Marx from 1936-37.
Here is the front power car showing the correct side lettering identifying the fact that the car contained a United States Railway Post Office (RPO). Marx made this set in several color combinations.

Here is the entire train (note there is another coach in this set, others can have more I removed that for space) the last car is labeled "Buffet Lounge"

I knew I had this video, it just took me a while to find it. My Lionel 2033 AB set with an MTH Snow Plow. Hope this works. (I apologize for the excessive panning. I received a MIB 2000 Union Pacific 4-6-2 Pacific Saturday which replaces a UP 2-8-0 Consolidation. The Consolidation had quit smoking again, so rather than mess with another repair, I just sold it as is on Ebay and got $49 more than I'd paid for it almost 2 years ago.
I like the forlorn sound of the steam whistle on the new Pacific and it'll pull out a tree stump.

Well just to keep this thread going, because I love the pictures and videos that others have posted, I will add my very small contribution. After the incredible detail contained in everyone's pictures, especially the loco posted by PRRonbh this should be considered the complete opposite end of the detail / scale distribution. Anyway here is the Marx 6" UP cattle car.

Wow, for some reason I do not think I’ve posted on this great thread, of one of the most beautiful railroads in the USA.. I plan to go back to the beginning and review all the cool pictures and videos. @Don McErlean, those are beautiful Marx UP switchers, and adds color to your beautiful layout. I wish everyone a happy UNION PACIFIC MONDAY, WHOOPS I did post on page 1….. Sorry for the duplication….

OK here just for some fun are a few of my "UP" trains...
First the Classic Lionel 2023 Union Pacific Alco PA from 1950-51
A Lionel (MPC) #9203 UP Boxcar from 1970
And the face "only a Mother could love" the Marx M 10000 from 1936-37. I have read that despite being much less expensive and less "scale like" than the offerings of Lionel and later American Flyer, Marx was the only one of the big three that got the power car correct, it was in actuality an RPO not a coach. Interesting if true.

The Marx M 10000 was my father's train set. He handed it down to me. I am now 78! I usually break out the M 10000 and put it on the Christmas layout and it still runs! I always wondered what the original headlight bulb looked like when it was new.

Here's a couple of shots of my Union Pacific F sets. The first one is the TMCC F3 ABBA as of last December. The second one is the Legacy F7 ABBA, which replaced the F3 set as of last January.

@John Knapp- John I loved your tale of you father's Marx M10000. I am 79 but my toy train legacy was Lionel (started in 1947) so I can't match your history with the M10000. I am very glad to hear yours is still running and providing you pleasure. Marx (and I am now a Marx fan and collector) has a great reputation of building solid, reliable, toys that almost always run regardless of age. I got this M10000 at a train show perhaps 25 + years ago so I can't guarantee that the bulb is original, it is original as far as I am concerned as I have never replaced it. Oh yes...it still runs!!

Geez Sitka, nothing like bringing back the old UP Monday thread after nearly a year. But, it's still Monday here, so I'll bite.
Here's a shot of my older set of GP9s that I just got rid of . . .
in favor of these newer GP35s, which I like better.

Both of these cabooses had been damaged so I repaired them and repainted them in the earlier brown paint schemes. They have been 2-railed as well.
