I have owned this Lionelville 60 Trolley since new (+- 1956). It has a motorman sillouette on both front and back inserts (not the metal reversing one). I can find no reference to this varient anywhere, including Greenberg. I am certain it is not a repro insert. Anyone have any info on this trolley?

Page 104 of standard catalog of Lionel trains 1945-1969 by David Doyle.
Bought the book - Page 104 appears to be a reprint of an ad for "New Lionel locos for 1959". On pages 103 and 105, the description of the 60 trolley describes a motorman silhouette. What they are referring to here is a metal one which is connected to the center reversing bar, so that the motorman appears to change ends when the trolley reverses. There doesn't appear to be any reference to the printed silhoette in my pictures. I can find no reference to this version anywhere.
Those silhouettes on the ends of the trolley shown above are from a modern-era trolley, which started production in 1986.
If you take the roof off, the end silhouette will likely have a number at the top.... 8490, 8404, 8419, etc. It looks like it was placed in your trolley backwards to prevent the number from being shown in the number board opening.

Reproduction window inserts include the motorman. I have a set.

Then the question is....if Bob has owned this since 1956, how did a set of reproduction windows get installed as obviously Bob was not aware of this....??

All I said was that reproductions are made. I did not connect that with Bob's trolley. I thought it might prove useful to someone as some variations came without the motorman etc. I changed mine over as it had no motorman etc, and I think it looks better.

Anything is possible.
The real issue is the probability factor.
Good Morning all, Yes, anything is possible, but from the looks of it, may it be a early 1955 that BOB got in 56? Black lettering, no vents could be a Greenberg Type (E), page 47 of his guide to Lionel trains? Bob got this new in 56 but maybe a leftover item from early 55 the dealer still had on hand? Anything is possible.
