I'll be heading to the Syracuse area next week an was looking for some advise on local train stores. Any suggestions? I will probably be adventuring somewhat north of Syracuse on the weekend towards Fulton as well.
Thanks for the advice,
Glenn

Please stop in to JR Junction on Erie Blvd. and thank them for their OGR forum sponsorship!
Also, GarGraves, and Gardner, the Train Doctor, (also forum sponsors) are not too far away towards Rochester a bit. Their part of the country, along Lake Ontario and amidst thousands of orchards, is coming in to peak fall foliage and is a beautiful drive out.
North of Syracuse is Bessers Whistle Stop LHS

and Walts Hobby Shop out past the fairgrounds
JR Junction is on Erie Blvd near Sams Club, say hi to Phil and Tom

K and K Hobby is in Utica, which is about an hour east of Syracuse. Plenty of O gauge, mostly Lionel, a little Williams and MTH.

Unfortunately K & K has been out of business for several months now.

Had a great trip, started with Gryzboski's, followed by the Village Train shop (Nice local store and a friendly owner who also like DIRT car racing!). The next day we hit JR Junction (When did they remove the store layout?) and finished the day at Bessers Whistle Stop (What happened to the Lionel selection? It seemed to be all Williams.)
Beyond trains . . racing at 5 Mile Point, Rolling Wheels Speedway, Pulaski Salmon Fest, Syracuse Farmer's and Flea Maket. Sunday ending by chasing a CP train down Rt 11 - 3 red GP-38/9's and one of the remaining two D&H lightning stripers, #7303. What fun!
Overall a great weekend. Thanks for the tips!
Thanks for stopping in! Our layout has been temporarily dismantled and currently being rebuilt with a completely new and different track design. The new layout will have a large rail yard with room to show off several complete trains, an area to showcase operating accessories, and more shelving for new products we previously didn't have room for.
I hope you have an opportunity to stop in again and see it.
