After rewiring an old layout (was built and wired before DCS many years ago) and adding a lot more track. Carefully following the DCS guide. Was still getting a lot of engine not found signals when running some engines and lashups.
Get 10's around pretty well the whole layout with most engines. And had replaced pickup rollers on any problem engines.
Well finally picked up a verison L TIU and swapped it in and sweet running no more engine not found!
Will have to work on the few problem engines I have they are now responding in TIU but in some areas have low track signal readings. Not sure what it is but I have been planning on wiring a couple of the problem engines together the power pickups either using dummy engines and adding power pickups or a paired powered engines with links between each for more power pickup from the rails. Had tried this with one problem engine. Older had 2 center rail rollers, wired it to a dummy that it runs with and added a pair of rollers to the dummy for 4 rollers and where before it was giving a signal of 3-4 in some locations with the 4 rollers and main wheels of both locos pickup up the power from the rails signal went to 10 for near the full layout.
It typically seems to be a problem with turnouts but even some sections of track even with the point of power to that rail section.
All my engines with 4 roller pickups are not a problem just a few older ones with new rollers installed but only 2 per loco.
All track has the black removed from center rail and layout is wired according to the book.
I set up the new layout specifically to run long trains with power throughout the train so where front mid and rear power on a long train, all engines need to be reading the signals through the DCS together to make it all work.
