More information is needed. What revision are you TIU's, what are you using to connect them to the PC? Are you powering the TIU from the AUX port or on fixed input 1?
The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition has a detailed discussion regarding upgrading TIU's and remotes.
This and a whole lot more is all in MTH’s “The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition", available for purchase as an eBook or a printed book at MTH's web store!
you need to download 2.34 DCS loader from the mthtrains.com website, that is the newest version loader. below is the website!
Also you need RS 232 serial 9 pin cable to connect to you serial usb serial port on your computer see page 190 in Barry's book the DCS o Gauge companion . and connect this cable to tiu and serial port on computer before powering up TIU . you need to jumper the proto-dispatch to the proto-cast audio input , also before powering up the other cable you need for this jumper is 1/8 mini to mini stereo jack. ounce you have all this connected ,power up the tiu and your computer should come up with the "SENDING CODE THE THE TIU.
Follow the steps on the screen word for word and then hit start after you have insured all the steps are correct as per the computer screen. ounce you hit start you should see the screen change to connecting to com port" what ever port you plugged into , if it can't find the port you have a issue possibly might have to download the correct driver for your serial port if it cannot connect. if need be you can download the serial driver from mthtrains.com web sight!
Everything above assumes you had already downloaded the TIU version that you wanted, and it is already installed on your computer wherever you had saved the download.!
Good luck
Alan
What revision are you TIU's,...
Same method is used with all. Rev L may also use USB.
Charlie, more details of how you're set up are needed, as well as what you're encountering. As Alan points out, follow the instructions on your screen exactly and in the order given. After a failure, power down the TIU.
Does the computer report that it's found the TIU? Or does it just keep searching?
when you power up the TIU count the red led it should blink one time on power up ! if you get the one blink on power up. Then try resetting the /TIU to factory specs and then retry your tiu update again.
If it still does not work then you might need a different serial port driver from the dcs web site as stated earlier, I had it happen to my computer and getting the correct driver from mth's web-site and then my tiu connected to the serial port and the update worked great on the tiu.
Good luck

Alan, I do not see how the TIU address number should have any effect on an attempt to update it. I have 4 TIUs, numbered 1,2,3,4. The computer is unable to establish communications with the TIU. I would not do a TIU reset
Charlie, in the Loader program, under options, set the port to automatic. OR, using Windows hardware manager, try to determine what port the serial adapter cable is using, and in the Loader program set the port to that number.
Be sure to power down and then repower the TIU after every unsuccessful attempt.
Robert,
I do not see how the TIU address number should have any effect on an attempt to update it.
That's because it has absolutely nothing to do with the upgrade process. Neither does a TIU reset.
I've corrected these erroneous statements in the past more than once, without any success.
2.3.4 is the correct version, when you actually download it will be 2.34 version ! I think it was a typo on the mth web-site!
Alan
p.s. I have actually downloaded that version and it works perfectly!!!
Alan
Barry,
I've corrected these erroneous statements in the past more than once, without any success.
Cheer up and don't take it personal. There's always someone who doesn't get the word.
Robert,
don't take it personal
I don't.
Often, people mean well and want to help. My only concern is to correct misinformation.
I use the same cable for my Rev L as the others; makes life simpler.
I've upgrade an I, G , H rev TIU with the same cable and had no issues, glad you got one working!
Alan
Charlie,
Sounds like your serial port is not configured properly. Software comes with the serial cable, or it is available from the manufacturer on their web site to configure the port.
