Any chance those MTH trucks would also be correct for that LaBelle CB&Q combine/coach/caboose kit, or are those coach caboose  trucks longer?

Might be, but I elected to go with a pair of PSC brass trucks, which I believe are no lingered by PSC. I think I may have purchased the last pair from Rails Unlimited about 3 or 4 years ago.

I actually had been also thinking along those lines for my CB&Q Waycar projects.  Unless you can find the proper trucks like HW did. The next closest I have found that will work ( 95% solution) the MTH or Lionel CA trucks. Just remember The MTH trucks have a tendency to sit taller.

I ordered a pair of MTH CA-1 trucks which looked OK. I took them apart down to the sides and axles. I made a new bolster out of flat aluminum,  screwed it to the sides, drilled a center pin hole. The car sits good,  and they look great. This is for a display anyway, not going to be running. The KTM car will be custom painted, but will leave the trucks black. It will look nice with my custom painted & detailed KTM Big Boy 4004.

Colorado Hi Railer:   The Labelle CB&Q combine waycar is a modified wooden passenger car, so has full size wood beam passenger car trucks (8' plus). The afore referenced wood beam trucks used by the Q for their waycars were not full-sized passenger trucks. They were 5'.  The perfect truck for that car was manufactured by Chooch in about 1979-80, in brass kit form.  There are a fair number of secondary alternatives available from Precision Scale - - watch Ebay for possibilities.

See - - - you definitely need the Waycars of the Burlington book !!!!
