Hope I didn't ask about this place before.....I had picked up their catalogs in
shows (but never found any of their kits although I have found Hawk Denver
and Salt Lake kits and other elusives)...and another copy is in a net auction today...
Has anybody ever actually found one of the "Vandenboom" kits in these catalogs, or did they just sell catalogs, of which I have only seen (several examples) a green covered 1940 one for 25 cents. The catalog offered all kinds of services, including apparently, converting Lionel to two rail, etc.
It offered several side door, drover, and combine caboose kits I have never seen, and an O scale kit for a C&O K3A Mikado I would by shopping for, if anybody had ever made a 3 rail version. The caboose kits are, apparently, different from Bob Peare Train-Craft kits. While Walther's, Lobaugh, and Lionel get credit for some offerings, others get no credit although I suspect they are
products of other known kit builders.
I am surprised at the variety of model railroad rolling stock, both O and HO,
apparently available in 1940.
