I am attempting to run a Lionel conventional diesel engine on my DCS. As per directions, I have everything hooked up to the Variable Output and Input terminals. Problem is the engine runs well, however, the bell on the engine will not stop. Cannot turn bell off on the remote nor transformer. Any suggestions what the problem might be??? Daviddp

It's been a while since I ran variable on my DCS system
Although I can't remember having that same issue, there would more often than not, be an issue with the sounds like the horn or bell or railsounds not working.
What transformer are you using to power the input of the TIU?
Does this occur when you use the other Variable channel on the TIU?

MTH Z750, Have not tried the other variable channel.
IS the controller being used or just the brick from Z-750. IF the controller, remove it and just use the brick. G
To use just the brick, you may find the MTH 50-1017 adapter cable useful.
You can also roll-your-own adapter (so as not to have to cut/splice the brick's cable with barrel connector). For example, for about $1 on eBay you can get a screw-terminal adapter as shown below and then run a pair of stripped-on-both-ends wires to the input terminals of the TIU variable channel.
