I moved this to the Tech Support Forum.

This is  a VERIZON issue, not an OGR Forum issue.

There is nothing we can do on our end. Our server sends the emails. What Verizon chooses to do with them upon receipt is what's causing your problem.

Complaining about it here will not solve anything. Get in touch with Verizon!

Rich:  I wasn't complaining, I was just trying to find out if anyone else was having the problem, again.  It seemed to be corrected, but suddenly stopped today.  Perhaps, with all the traffic about Spence and some other threads, Verizon's system has deemed it to be spam.

Please do not misunderstand my intent, it was not to complain , but to find out if I was alone in this issue.

Rich:  As you so aptly put it, the large, faceless corporation has no contact person.  But, there is a link where you may be able to do something.  It is a page for "whitelisting".  there is a place for the Verizon customer to fill out (which I have done several times) and another place where the blocked domain (the Forum) can be filled out.

This may work, or it may not.  But, it is probably worth a try.

Rich.................

I was NOT complaining either but wanted to warn others about them and its too bad you HAD to delete the post even this has nothing to do with trains. I wanted others to know about it that's all. I am sure there are other forum members using the Verizon services.  We did something about it and we FOUGHT with them.

FWIW, it appears that behemoth Comcast will "hold back" some emails for later delivery, especially those w/ attachments or links.  Not sure if it is a spam scanning issue or not, but it is frustrating when you check and read your mail, then later come back to find message(s) from the earlier time period that are just delivered and placed chronologically in the inbox based upon when they were originally sent.  A number of times when I had 20 or more emails that I first went through (reading/deleting/retaining) I later "found" new and important e-mail that was put back in time unread in what was my viewed inbox section.  The Comcast delivery delay can be minutes to many, many hours.

I am still attempting to work this problem out with Verizon.  I spoke to a Verizon support person late last evening,  But, he didn't seem to know about the problem and could not help. He went "off-line" to seek help within Verizon's own system, but apparently there was none available.  So, some type of internal Verizon repair ticket was issued regarding my case.  Who knows what will happen?  Verizon did this on their own, and released the Genie from the bottle, and now they don't know how to get it back in.

After the episode on December 27th, I thought the problem was solved by "whitelisting" the Forum's email.  Everything seemed to work until about 11:00 AM yesterday.  Then, no more email from the Forum.  It is the only thing being blocked by Verizon's SPAM BLOCKER.

It would seem, from the lack of response, that I am alone in my quest.  I do not intend to go down without a fight.  For what I am paying Verizon each month, I want top-knotch service, without flaws.

Since this is related to the Forum, I will keep posting until my posts get deleted.   I wish there was more traffic on this particular thread.  There must be someone else having this problem out there.

Bob, I'm sure I'm probably still having the issue, and if I was still routing my forum notifications through Verizon, I'd probably still be wondering where they are.

Bob, just use gmail from google.

If you are worried about security, you should not be putting ANY sensitive information in emails regardless of who the email provider is or how secure it is.

Because nothing is 100% secure....75% at best.

In addition, I NEVER open emails from my banks, credit card companies, investments etc.

Instead, when I see who it is from I just go directly to their website and check my messages and statements there.

Otherwise, those email can be malicious with everything from spoofed URLs to email addresses, all designed to make your life miserable.

I even get all those fake package delivery emails from fake UPS and FedEx spoofers.

I don't even open them.

In addition, I have two email accounts, i.e. one for junk and for important stuff.

Never use the important stuff account to register at any site other than important financial account stuff etc.

Absolute baloney.

I have used Firefox for years with minimum security settings. I have never had a problem with any web site anywhere. However, I don't let sites I visit randomly set cookies on my computer, either. If I am just looking at a site, they don't need to set any cookies. If I have to log into a site to make a purchase or admin the site, etc. then I allow the cookies to be set because I have to.

If you don't monitor your cookies, I will guarantee that you have THOUSANDS of cookies on your computer right now. Some of them are malicious. THAT is where your security issue is, not within the browser itself.

Bob, I think there was little response here because so few people use Verizon for their email. The only way that this is "...related to the forum..." is that we send you emails which Verizon decides to block. As I said above, that is a VERIZON problem, not an OGR Forum problem.

In any case, I see you have switched to Gmail. You won't have any problems getting your email from them, but now all your emails will be tracked by Google so they can include ads in your emails when you send them. I wouldn't give up my privacy just to achieve a certain level of simplicity.

For $9.88 a year you can have your own domain name and your own email and not have to worry about ANY of this. bobseverin.com is available. whois.com is your friend.

I am going to close this thread now.
