Great looking photos. The cornfield shot with the scarecrow is particularly good.
In later years, the tracks were so bad they would have lots of derails.
I attended a presentation by someone who was a Montour employee in those later years. He said that nearly all trains at that time had triple-headed SW's. The reason was so that when one of them derailed, the other two had enough power to drag it back onto the rails. If one of a doubleheader derailed, the other unit might not be able to rerail its partner. He had great color slides of numerous derailments.
