This is an idea of one of my very enthusiastic local train buddies, who does not participate in this forum: how many vignettes or scenes do you have on your layout?

I just took 35 photos of various vignettes on mine. However, IMO that number could be a small fraction of the total number if one considers close up shots verses panoramic shots and the myriad possible angles photos can be taken of one's layout.

It stands to reason that the more vignettes one has, the greater the interest one can have in a layout.

How about you? How many vignettes do you have? Show us some of your favorites.

I will start us off with this scene from the marine portion of my layout:

Too many to count... Here are some of my favorites.

Scratch built realtor sign... My sister-in-law just sold this property.

Scratch built Hot Dog Stand (including the hot dogs and cokes).  Looks like the uniform has to go to the cleaners again.

Very nice photos everyone.

Wood, I have a similar fishing in rowboat scene with figures, which I believe is by Woodland Scenics:

Patrick, I plan on looking for loggers to add to a vignette that will include both Postwar Lionel  log loaders #164 and 364: the long one for a single track and the other one that goes between 2 tracks. Will post a photo or video of the log loaders later.

Yes Arnold it is the Woodland Scenic boat and figures.

Speaking of lumber yards, this is my scene with the 164.

Wood, you got the right nickname, going all out with your loggers, lumber, and log loader scene.

Today I placed my 164 log loader facing the opposite direction from yours, and have it dump the logs into the single track 364 log loader.

I think your 164 looks just as good, maybe better. I may change off having it face one way for a while, then the other way.

I also think that accessory goes well near the 97 coal elevator.

This may be the only vignette of its kind: Popsicle Stick Polo Grounds:

20220813_073341

The inspiration for this was to add to my layout features of The Put, with Yankee Stadium on the Bronx side, and the Polo Grounds on the Manhattan side, of the Harlem River in the vicinity of the Sedgwick Avenue Station, the southernmost station along The Put.

The enclosed screen-capture image shows the vignette of the "Double D Brassiere Company" -- from the 2007 VIDEO of Rob Mueller's former Pine Summit RR, that was located in N. Central PA.

Unfortunately this layout had to be dismantled when Rob got divorced.

  • (As far as I know, the divorce didn't have anything to do with Rob's choice of vignette interests .)

This scene can be viewed at  https://youtu.be/B8BWaO3Y9gA?t=493  (the 8:13 point).

  • Rob narrates during the video -- telling the history and "mission statement" of the business.
