I have a K-Line Virginian Trainmaster #52 (model K2499-0052HS). My transformer is an MRC model AH601 (270 watts). When I push the horn button there is no sound from my diesel. Is there some reason why this transformer and the diesel don't work? Hope to hear back as to what I can do to make this horn button work. It does work with my 681 locomotive and tender and my MTH GG1.

Well, it could simply be the locomotive and not the transformer. That transformer has a pretty robust horn and bell circuit, I suspect it's not the problem.
If it is the locomotive, how do I go about troubleshooting it? Are there any wiring diagrams or schematics for this engine or any K-Line products? Seems to me that K-Line doesn't want anybody to know anything about their products. believe this diesel was manufactured before Lionel had K-Line. Who owns K-Line now?
Well, schematics for K-Line are hard to come by, nobody owns K-Line now, they're defunct!
Pop the top, this one is a pretty simple unit. The horn is a separate board that just has the track power coming in and connects to the speaker.
OK. I put my GG1 on the other track and the horn worked when I pushed the bell button. Nothing happened when I pushed the horn button. Now as far as the Virginian goes, when I push the horn button nothing happens. When I push the bell button the engine tries to blow the horn and it did work once. All the other times all I heard was a clicking noise. I don't even know if this diesel has a bell to sound. This is getting more and more confusing. There are two circuit boards under the cab, a small board where the yellow wires from the horn are soldered and a board about twice the size as the small board. Any ideas as to why the horn wants (or attempts) to blow when the bell button is pushed?
