thanks for the tip, got a question how come Lionel did not supply the nut driver removal tool with the $1700.00 dollar Niagara engines! hope Lionel responds to this question?

Thanks Dean!!  Put this in my notes for the Niagara; the 10 to 20 seconds must be the key.

 I'm not Lionel but........Its a philips head/|JIS screw so a nut driver wouldn't do much good anyway.

Vision Niagara Side Rod Screws

 

Hello Dealers and Service Stations,

 

I wanted to take a few minutes to tell you about the side rod screws on the Vision Niagara.

The side rod screws are Phillips head with a hex sleeve to make it look like a hex screw.

We are having several people call in about stripping screws while trying to replace traction tires. The screws are put in with a thread locking product and most are hard to remove. To remove the screws simply take a soldering iron and place in the slots of the screw head for 10-20 seconds, this will destroy the thread lock product and make it easier to remove the screws.
