I have a VL GG1 and noticed that the single blinking cab light comes on quite often.  It seems to be extraordinarily sensitive, much more so than my VL BigBoy or my Legacy SD70.  I have noticed that if you try to change direction while the locomotive is moving, regardless of speed, the cab light begins flashing.  I had the locomotive creeping, stopped it, then restarted and got the flashing light.  It checked the wheels and tires and all looks okay.  When it stalls I have have rocked it back and forth and it appears to be free.

This doesn't seem normal to me based on my other locos.  Has anyone else seen this?  Should I contact Lionel?

Thanks

That answers the above question.

Yes, absolutely call Lionel. A single blink usually equals stalled main motor.

Have you tried cleaning the track?

I have a legacy k4 that will flash the same code if it stalls on dirty track.

It's the only Loco I own  that does it. I wipe the track with some alcohol and all is well.

Even though your track may look clean, it may still have a light layer of dust, oil, etc.
