Hello all,

I'm looking to get my foot in the door with 3RS as it seems my interest has changed to scale stuff as I ventured back into this hobby from a kid with O27 traditional stuff. Any tips on easier type projects I can start with? I'm open for suggestions with the exception of kadees. I need to take my time learning that before I butcher up my stuff.

I'm thinking of trying to rename and maybe renumber because Lionel been lacking on the BNSF items. I want to try renaming 2 SF Legacy GP30's into BNSF engines with the SF paint kept in tact. From real pictures it seems like I just need to get the BNSF wording logo and stick it under the cab numbers on the side.

I gotta find decals like these http://www.microscale.com/Merc...p;Category_Code=BNSF but I need it to be blue instead of black. I also need to find a good way to remove the old numbers if I decide to renumber. The YouTube videos seemed to apply to HO manufactures and I didn't see any super insightful information on the forum for a new guy venturing into this.

Thanks

3RS was my choice from the start as I like to model particular items, and I grew up with 3 rail so it is what I understand and the reliability is great.

Try brake cleaner on a qtip for removing lettering/numbers. Works well for me. Usually leaves the paint underneath unharmed.

Most newer premier cars are ready for Kadee's, just need to get the height correct with their gauge. I started with one Atlas O car (also set up for scale couplers tho the holes are a tad bit off, I just drill one on an angle) just to see if I liked it, haven't looked back since, well over 200 cars and counting. Some are easier than others. We can give you suggestions if you need help.

Good luck!
