Bob,

This is an MTH scale F unit:

Below are two examples of WbB F3s. They are identical in all respects, except for the pilots, to the Lionel postwar F3.

The Lionel Fs, and the Williams, are noted for slightly "squinty" front windows as you can see by comparing them to the MTH.

There are many who compare all other Fs to the Lionel postwar versions and seem to prefer the smaller windows. The Williams and/or Lionels are pretty close to scale in most respects.

Thanks guys!

I Googled for a Seaboard Air Line F3 and their pilot looks just like the WBB part:

except for the ginormous hole for the coupler.

Do any of the brands have wire mesh for the screens?  Looks like the WBB unit is solid plastic.  Not a big problem since I'd have to strip paint anyway, just cut it out and find some screen to put in its place (like I did on my Athearn HO F3s).

I don't think I can wait for Atlas to get around to offering a SAL F3 so this may have to do, or get a P&D unit (are they 3-rail or just 2-rail?).

P&D units are 2 rail. The WBB f3's are very nice, just remember the are mostly a copy of the old Lionel F3's.

I bought a set of the Norfolk southern units and added ps2 and they are great.

if your a total scale nut then the WBB F units are not for you, but if you can put up with the squinty windows then they just may work for you.

Anybody know if the P&D F3 pilot (PDP5130 perhaps) fit a WBB F3?

Bob, call Pat at P&D store and ask him for the plastic blomberg truck he was offering and the roller pick up. This truck type is like the weaver FA and RS units, use the same bolster.

Then on the bolster install the roller pick up. If He doesn't have the roller pick up let me know I still have few.

Andre.
