I just purchased a MTH Vo 1000, the trouble I am having is when it travels on one side of my layout powered by a z750 transformer it does not respond to inputs from my dcs remote very well or not at all. I do not have this problem with my other 3 mth engines that I have. My lay out is 6ft x 30ft long and one side is powered by a z1000 the other side by a z750 brick. I have taken this engine back to the store and it responds fine there. I wonder if I have just maxed out my transformer or if there is something else I should be looking for?

imo the 750 is too small
you might try running power feeders to other spots on your layout, you should have these no matter what.
I have a couple power feeds to each section, I also want to know if I should use a separate power supply to the TIU would this help signal strength instead of using my z1000 thru fixed input 1.

there is a way in DCS to monitor the signal strength from engine feedback.
I can't remember under which menu it is, but I would run all 3 engines and monitor
the engine feedback signal. You may find a common spot where the signal drops.
Also I agree with adding a second z1000 brick.
I just ran a signal test using one of my older engines. I left the V0 1000 on the tracks and ran my GP-7 around doing a test. I was getting numbers ranging from 10 to 4 around outside loop of layout after a complete lap I lifted the V0 1000 off the track while still running the test and the number went straight to a 10 around the whole lay out. I guess there is something wrong inside this engine and I will have to send it to MTH. I did not have any of these problems prior to purchasing this engine.
I forgot to mention that this engine loves to start up as soon as the power is applied to the tracks, without ever turning on the remote. I have done both a feature reset and factor reset numerous times to no avail.
Sounds like a board problem. Sent Marty an E mail, He's a certified MTH tech.
Even in conventional the engine should start up in neutral.
You could also open her up and check for the obvious loose conections
broken wires. ect....
I ended up taking this engine back to the hobby shop were they decided that it had a bad board. They replaced my engine with another one they had on the shelf, even took the time to test it on there layout to make sure it was operating properly. I would like to thank the guys again at Dixie Union Station for there exceptional service.
