I have 276 Weaver coal cars. Some have dicast trucks others have plastic trucks. They all perform the same. No problems at all.

DL&W Pete,
I know you made the video to show poeple the plastic trucks do work, at least for a while. I hate them anyway, I am a metal truck guy all the way. Please tell me the Military flat cars are not made with plastic trucks!

I see a number of you don't like the weaver plastic trucks which is OK by me because I do like them. So if your going to throw them out, throw them my way. I especially like the plastic wheels. I don't use the couplers. If you don't like the older plastic wheels but like the trucks I have a shoe box full of weaver metal wheels. I can trade one for one, one metal wheel weaver wheel set for one weaver plastic wheel set. Weaver only, no lionel. no k-line, no MTH. I know this should be posted on the trade site but have done that before with no success all of you weaver fans are here.
clem k,
If I can get my hands on the militray Weaver Flat Cars and they have those nasty
plastic trucks, I will trade you the plastics for the metal Weaver trucks for sure.

dave,
when they made those flat cars, you had your choice of trucks 9 years ago. they stopped selling freight cars with the plastic trucks a few years ago.
I have a few Weaver hoppers I want to convert to Kadee couplers. How should the coupler box be mounted so the screw isn't seen coming through the pad? On a box car screw shaft would be hidden but on the hopper it can be seen. Thanks.
liquid cement or glue would work as long as you don't get any on the coupler inside the box.
I love their rolling stock. I have heard that their older powered units used a chain drive. They make great dummys is the most charitable thing I have heard about those. As far as I know their newer powered units are top notch. I don't know when they made the switch. Something to keep in mind if bidding on line.

do you throw the whole coupler arm away or do you cut it and leave the base? Seems this keeps the wheels properly spaced and stops them from rubbing the bottom of the car. Thanks
I know little about Weaver rolling stock and my local dealer doesn't carry Weaver.
Can you give me some guidance on advantages, dis advantages compared to MTH or Lionel?
Thanks!
David,
You can generally find them at train shows at very good prices. Pick one or two up. Made in America, nice family run company.
My expierance is limited to rolling stock.
