Are body shells interchangeable between MTH and Weaver SD40-2? I read something that implied they were.

While I do not have a direct answer for you, MTH purchased the SD40-2 tooling from Weaver. It is likely similar to my experiences in swapping body shells from PS1 era to PS2 or PS3 era chassis. There are minor variations that require a little bit of creative engineering, but in general the shells are interchangeable. I found this to be true on the original PS1 version of the FP45 when swapping shells with a later PS2 chassis.
