Could any of you share the technical description (i.e. length, diameter, etc) for the screws that Weaver used to mount trucks to the under frames of its cars?  I can't find anything appropriate here locally and I would like to order some replacements, but I am not certain about the correct description.  Thanks.

There was a topic on this a while back but I think Rod is right on the length. I think someone mentioned you could find them at Ace Hardware. I ordered mine in bulk from a screw place in California.  I think if the screw is too long it will work on box car frames because the screw will go through the floor but I found on a two bay hopper if the screw is too long it does not go through the body and the truck will be too loose. Not sure about this on the other Weaver hoppers...........Paul 2

A great place to go for screws and bolts, etc., is Bolt Depot out of Massachusetts.  They will ship as few as 1 at a reasonable price.  I've got quite a bit of product from them for various products.  It does help to know what you're looking for but they do have a customer service department that will answer questions as well.

I seem to remember that those truck mounting screws on Weaver cars were 2-56, about 1 1/2" long.

That sounds right. The length did vary from package to package, sometimes.

I seem to remember trucking a Weaver flat that I had gotten at a show, with some Weaver trucks that I had on hand in their packaging. I was merrily tightening the screw down when I realized that I had a nice length of thread poking up through the flatcar decking.

Flatcars can be problematic. They are so "naked".
