A small group of us here in the Prescott, AZ area decided to build a set of 4x8 portable layouts to take to schools, libraries, community centers, etc. Each fellow choses his own theme for his layout.
Three of us have ours done and in the week before Christmas took them to the two elementary schools in Chino Valley. The principals were wonderful, and brought every child in the school to see us. Here are some shots from the first, where every class in turn came by for a show.
Frankly, I think we had as much fun as the kids!
I know it is not a photo, but here is a video I made from the day after Christmas.
That is precious Bob. God bless.
Congrat's Bob....great pic with your new grandson!

"Look Ma, that new Studebaker coupe sure is sporty. I think its time to trade in the old Chevrolet."
Well it finally got here. Only 20-months after originally predicted to ship.
At least it arrived before Christmas, that is Orthodox Christmas!
Bob,
Congratulations on your new grandson! You definitely have a new train buddy to share with.

Chessie - I always like to see the Chessie silhouette. Who did you find open on Christmas Day (besides e-Bay)?
Thanks Nobody LOL
Scott.....is that a ETS loco???? I have a 'Western' 0-4-0 with tender but I like this one.....
My 4 year old grandaughter visited early in December from Az. We put the display together for her. She liked it but ultimately it lost out to playing tea party with her Grammie!
A couple from tonight's running with the Pittsburgh Independent Hi-Railers:
Little did the drive-in patrons suspect...

The new Lionel Blue Comet 4 car set showed up on Christmas Eve from our friends at Charlie Ro's..... We broke them out today with the Blue Comet.... a beautiful set.
Sounds like the Southern Crescent and the Alton Limited cars ship in another week...
Mr McMuffin
You are correct, that is a beautiful train.
A real classic.
This is a friend of mine named Matt. I met him 18 years ago through the Jaycees. I never knew, or he never told me that his father had a huge standard gauge layout in the basement. The Sunday before Christmas he invited me and a bunch of neighbors over to see some of them run.
There is a lot going on in the layout, and no photos really do it justice. One indicator of the action is this gathering at the station. Even Queen Elizabeth II showed up.
I was really intrigued by the shadow of the city against the back wall and the bridge (Looks like the Manhattan Bridge?) in the foreground.
The best running of the 13 locomotives in the collection is the MTH 400E. Some of the trains like the 318 and 10 date back to his father's youth in the 20s.
I tried to pose this better, but the 400E is entering the curve as a 9E with the Stephen Girard train cross over the **** Gate bridge.
Great photos all.
Love the Blue train.
Finally got a train around the tree on Dec 23 after I took down the model train display from the museum last week.
Here are some shots.
Happy New Year all.
Hope you and yours are having a great holday season this year! A couple of my buildings over at the live steampark! We use a little different kind of WEATHERING! Russ
