Murph,
Well done forest scene - the upper left portion in your first picture, on this page; nice tree combination. A familiar sight, in my neck of the woods.

Here's the unit afterward. We caught a break in the weather and were able to photograph it outside. Touched up the MU hoses and cables afterward, but it started raining again so another photo was out of the question.
So did I. Matt, that looks great!
Matt,
Your DC 9 has the"look"! Very nice!
Rick
Matt....OK, fess up....it is a picture of the real thing.....right???? BOY...what a great job Matt!!

Thank you, Rick B. I appreciate your saying so.

Murph,
For me, the right combination and placement of trees; including, deadfall, underbrush and stumps... needs to be captured, to look realistic.
I see that, in your picture.
Rick
Matt,
Do it - very carefully, pry up those grab bars, on the slanted portion of the nose of your 9; and, raise them the appropriate height. That will finish off the look, nicely.
BTW, I did it to mine... giving the face a greater dimensional look. Never nicked or scratched the paint doing it, either.
Rick
Been following this thread for months and really enjoy the postings from everyone. I decided to give it a try since I don't qualify for a crappy basement layout turned here.

Thanks again, Rick B. I esp. appreciate your being so explicit and pleasant about it. Here are a few more of that same area, taken from various other angles to add perspective.

RJT:
Like the concept of displaying the collection in the TV Room and that cross-room ceiling shelf.
Short video of what's running on the DKK&s
This weekend the clear body ATSF F-3s (recently upgraded to PS-2) were placed up on our shelf layout. They were pressed in service to pull the Broadway Limited (of all things) because our new T-1 arrived with non-functional sounds and will, most likley, be sent back to Lionel for repairs.
During a trip to the train store to have the T-1 checked-out, we also picked-up some lumberjacks. We were careful to keep them away from our trees.
