Don't ever let my wife do the decorations anywhere trains are going to be run.

Let's see your pictures.

Here we go for this week -

The westbound Pennsylvanian, led by Amtrak P42 86 prepares to stop at Altoona as an SD40E helper set rolls eastbound. 10/17/14

A lot of railroading history at ALTO tower - 10/17/14

NS SD70M-2 2739, SD60E 6970 (ex NS SD60 6625) & GP38-2 5638 (ex NS GP38 2950, exx CR/PC 7911) at the former PRR Juniata Shops in Altoona, PA - 10/16/14

Atlanta bound NS 213 crosses the Catawba River in Belmont, NC with a sweet trio for power - UP SD70M 4562, BNSF D9-44CW 5393 & CN SD60 5489 (ex EMDX 9098) -11/3/14

Postwar Time -

As far as I know, there were only three Mail Pouch barns in California.  The one on my layout is near the city of San Luis Obispo.  Southern Pacific will use the siding at nearby Camp Roberts and Fort Hunter Liggett to deliver the Sheridan.  There is a vintage Sheridan M551A1 on display at this US Army base.  Another piece of history is one of the California missions, which is open to the public.  There are some nice photos being shared this week--thanks!

Eddie,

A new layout? I need some felt ideas or a specific product type for my Holiday layout. What did you use for the road?

Thanks again,

Mike

Mike,

I used black Naugahyde for this layout, and that's what I use on my "big" layout.  I mmake a paper template of all the roadways and razor cut it out of one piece usually. On my modular layout, I glue dark grey felt for roads.  Works well with green felt "grass"

Ray - I was hoping that you would notice and take pity on me and teach me the right way to do it.  I am impressed with your skills in this area and am dying to see your work in person.  Don't forget to get me a schedule so we can make it over one of these days.
