Hey Walt, you mean to tell me after all these years you still don't have the companion cars?  You know, the letters SC and LE?

I remember Bill the first time that you posted something similar and I couldn't for the life of me figure it out!  Then of all times it came to me in a dream.  A Ripley's believe it or not moment!

thanks for the reminder.

Next time I'm at the museum I'll consider it if only for a quick picture.

Patrick......I absolutely LOVE this picture......

One of my earliest Christmas memories (late 50s) is going with my Dad and uncles to a small New Haven freight yard in the central Bronx, along East Tremont Avenue, north of Parkchester.......where the Bronx DMV eventually stood years later.....

We bought our trees right off the box cars. I can remember the cold winter nights, with Christmas lights strung up along 2x4s set up around the box car, with a roaring fire in a 55 gallon drum.

Peter - I'm elated to hear that this photo sparked such a wonderful and special memory for you!  Merry Christmas!

Grand Canyon Railroad.

FPA-4 Alco

South Kiabab trail, Skeleton point.  Phantom Ranch visible lower right of center, green area.  Colorado River, left of center.

Mule train bridge. Black bridge, dates to the beginning of the Grand Canyon National Park.  There are two bridges, this one can support the mules.

Retired Grand Canyon locomotive.  X-Lake Superior & Ishpeming RR , iron ore railroad, converted to oil.   Another LS&I locomotive saw new life with the Western Maryland Scenic RR.

Weaver had done a model of #29, though not a great model.

Last trip to the Canyon was 2015, Railroad power was F40FH. There are two.

In our home, no trains are around our Christmas tree on the main floor, nor on the floor anywhere. However, Christmas decorations get applied onto IMG_1481IMG_8675photo [2)b

the layout, for the Seasonal celebration...

Here is the only place on the First Floor where "trains" are featured among the decorations...

FrankM, having a good ol' time of it all.

Frank, your personal record has been awarded ten merits for adding realistic and not overdone Christmas decorations to your town.

Time for some MPC under the tree.

The locomotive, the covered hoppers, the Sabine River & Northern boxcar, and the TP&W boxcar are mine from my youth.  They were mishmashed with postwar cars back in the day.  This year I added more cars and a caboose to make a legit MPC set.

I also bought a Delaware & Hudson MPC U36C and matching bay window caboose (from Christopher2035) and will post those here tomorrow.
