Not quite my usual "a 2023 Christmas Layout memory" but this new accessory is destined to create them for years to come. BACKGROUND: for 24 years I hosted what was called "The Train Party". Brothers, Sisters, children, grandchildren, nephews, nieces - the whole crew of relatives. My last year we had 28 at the 'train party'. I no longer host them
Multiple years my nephew David would give to me a "train party thank you gift". Many/most were customized. Here is the one that he gave to me last week (out of the blue).
Here's the very first gift that he gave to me:
Here are some of the other gifts from him. It includes an image of one of my layouts.
Being I'm from Pittsburgh:
For this custom made mug, refer to the billboard above to understand:

Sorry to hear "The Train Party" tradition has ended, Walt, but gratified to see the annual construction/assembly of the layout continues. This year's iteration looks to be a nice one!

Jr. Engineers paid a visit over the holidays. They managed to arrange some of the Magooville residents in some non-traditional locations, but had a grand time doing so.
Thanks Scott for getting us started for this fine last weekend of 2023! Here are my photos of the fun kind! I wish everyone a happy healthy new year!!
Here's a power line up from 1954.
While on a hike and looking through the bushes, I captured this scene of a WM loco taking on water.
A Western Maryland BL2 approaches.
Looking down the road a beer truck is headed our way as a WM steam locomotive does some switching.
Great start to the weekend, everyone!
Lots of post Holiday train activity in Richmond this week…..
1st two out-of-town RC3R members came down for a visit on Tuesday and we ran some trains. These fellows are also active members of the National Capital Trackers (of which I’m an out-of-town member).
Have a great and safe weekend, folks!

2nd……our modular group, the River City 3 Railers hosted the Virginia Train Collectors with a “come run on our 21x47’ layout” event.
It was very well attended by younger model railroaders and adults. Lots of varied trains were seen.
A Lionel 1981 J with RailKing streamlined N&W cars.
An early Lionel TMCC AEC Geep.
A LionChief passenger set.
A 1953 PostWar Santa Fe streamliner set.
A 2nd Lionel 1981 J with the Lionel cars from 1981.
An MTH RF&P diesel freight.
Am MTH Pennsy lightweight streamliner.
A Legacy Conrail juice train……with an MTH RF&P dummy helper
Kids also came who had no trains of their own and enjoyed running our LionChief engines.
Lots of fun had by all.

3rd…..Thursday was a regular run day…..I ran PennCentral and Conrail. You can almost run anything with these roads (especially Conrail), and just say they haven’t gotten their “repaint”, yet……
Have a great and safe weekend, everyone!

A few short videos of the week….
A happy and healthy New Year to all!

Scott at HRM models was kind enough to upscale his Wausau, WI HO REA freight house kit to O scale for me. Kit number HRM-713. I managed to find the space next to the depot. Most of the interior details are from Berkshire Valley Models.
See this thread for the details on the depot. https://ogrforum.com/...-wisconsin-depot-kit
I received a tripod for Christmas and am working on videos of my layout. I am going to post another of a yard operation. I enjoy operations and have two yards that serve several industries. Most of my layout was conventional until 2016 when the DCS bug bit me. I have also converted all my track and switches from Lionel tubular to Ross and Gargraves. Look for further posts.
My second yard.
another enticing set of tin-plate videos @Craignor . THanks again for posting them

@Texas Eagle 77 posted:Peter,
How tall and how thick is plexi-glass on your club's layout?
Something is telling me 3/16” and 8”………but I will check to confirm.
