I am starting construction on a special run kit from HRM Laser Models. HRM founder Scott paid me a visit while back and asked me if there was any building that he could design for me. To my surprise he eagerly agreed to do the famous 1901 Milwaukee Road Wausau depot. He had already done this in HO, and had to upscale to O gauge.
This depot is somewhat famous for being used in TV and print advertising for Employers Mutual Insurance, you old timers may remember these TV ads on 60 Minutes show in the 1970s. The name was eventually changed to Wausau Insurance, and now the brand is part of Liberty Insurance. The real building has had a recent extensive renovation and is now Timekeeper Distillery.
The O scale building has a foot print of 11" by 40". Here are some pictures of the kit parts laid out before construction. Including the shingle strips, there are about 700 parts to this kit!
