The Depot really is beautiful, although much of it is badly in need of renovation/restoration. I also visited the "Model Railroad Museum" (http://www.choochoo.com/modelrailroad.php) which was nice, but only reaffirmed that O-gauge is right for me. The scenery was fantastic, but the trains just looked like toys. O-scale trains have gravitas.
I love going to the Chattanooga station. It would be nice to have some restoration done for sure.
My dream for the place would be to put the station are as back to original as possible including tracks and all. If possible get a deal with NS to allow an excursion train to run out of there as well.
Apparently most of the track work is still there under all of the asphalt as proven by a team from the University which did ultrasonic testing.
I do plan on some point staying in one of the rail car hotel rooms when I go back.
