I spent the weekend at a convention at the Chattanooga "Choo Choo" Hotel at the former Chattanooga Terminal Depot.

The Depot really is beautiful, although much of it is badly in need of renovation/restoration.   I also visited the "Model Railroad Museum" (http://www.choochoo.com/modelrailroad.php) which was nice, but only reaffirmed that O-gauge is right for me.  The scenery was fantastic, but the trains just looked like toys.  O-scale trains have gravitas.

I love going to the Chattanooga station.  It would be nice to have some restoration done for sure.

My dream for the place would be to put the station are as back to original as possible including tracks and all.  If possible get a deal with NS to allow an excursion train to run out of there as well.

Apparently most of the track work is still there under all of the asphalt as proven by a team from the University which did ultrasonic testing.

I do plan on some point staying in one of the rail car hotel rooms when I go back.

A little late to reply, but my 3rd Rail FP7s finally arrived in 2 rail.  Scott was able to track these down for me so thank you Scott!!!!

For those of you who didn't pre-order this beauty in 2 or 3 rail you really missed out.  The best diesel from 3rd Rail yet and the upcoming FT will be more of this kind of quality.  I am extremely happy!

Just out of the box for the first time and displayed on the Paradise and Pacific layout in Scottsdale Arizona.  Obviously a static display on this track!

Since my 2R layout is still in the planning stages, sitting in my soon to be demolished yard at home next to an E7.

Nice pictures!!  This last week a guy on You Tube was telling me that his smoke unit just went quit on his Southern U30c (same engine you have).  I bought Legacy NS Heritage Southern SD70ACe (Fantasy Paint Scheme) last year that I returned for refund because of smoke unit problems.  So, the problems with smoke units unfortunately apply to both Legacy steam engines and diesels.
