We finished up the Train Lovers Day layout for next week at the Virginia Museum of Transporation
A little more work done on the Lion King.
I also finished another tunnel portal on the multi-gauge layout.

This is a Williams by Bachmann scale GG-1 I bought from Alex Malliae which started out as a Pennsylvania that he did a full ERR conversion on. I replaced the shell with the Bicentennial shell I bought from Bachmann and added LED’s from Evan Design and painted the trucks and pilots.
Set up a loop in the living room. I wanted to run my new MTH Rail King Genesis and test the DCS explorer which I just received from forum sponsor Mario's Trains. Easily got it set up in home mode. Runs and sounds great.

Was a busy week on the railroad!
Picked up 2 new buildings - The Menards passenger station & the Lionel Bucking Feed & Tack building -
I did some scenery work as well, which involved creating the slope near the feed & tack building & covering the rest of the ceiling tile edges with plaster cloth. Also picked up a few items - All LTI & all at really good prices. Got the B&A Hudson & a matching set of NYC passenger cars, WM FF#4 set & finally got myself a J. The kids were very excited about the J!
NS ES44AC 8018 leads an eastbound set of helpers towards Bluefield in Landgraff, WV on the Pokey
NS ES44AC 8144 leads 19G on former Reading rails in Hummelstown, PA. 
L&C power works Circle S feeds at Richburg, SC
NS AC44C6M 4106 (ex NS D9-40C NS 8806) is just out of the rebuild shops as it leads a westbound 800 series coal train through Shawsville, VA on the Christiansburg district.
NJT 'Veterans' ALP46A 4635 leads a NY bound local through Red Bank, NJ
These photos are of my Frisco Depot here in Springfield, MO. My father worked for the dining car dept. and we only lived about 3 blocks from this depot. I spent a lot of time running around in the depot. Sadly, they have torn down this depot. I hope you enjoy this model.

Come on out to Virginia Museum of Transportation's Annual Train Lovers Day! Fun activities, delicious food from Ken & Jayne's Burgers & Dogs and great exhibits! This is a family friendly event that everyone will enjoy! Train rides will be provided by the Roanoke chapter NHRS and will be $3 with a paid admission!
Don't forget the open house for the Roanoke Valley Model Railroad club in the basement. We don't charge admission. Please keep in mind it is a basement entrance to a 100 year old building. It is not handicapped friendly-stairs only.

Scott - Steve Maier and I were there a few weeks ago on our way up to Trainstock and completely missed the basement! The place was deserted and we must have missed a sign! :-(
This was my first time ever to see the Class A and a real GG!. What a treat

I glad you got to the museum. The club meets Tuesday nights and is open for special events. The club would have not been open.

Ouray, Colorado, Winter of 1882...
"It's been snowing in Ouray for spell now. The snow's crunching under your boots as you tromp yer way to the simmerin' engine. Thank Heavens that cab will be warmer than this walk, courtesy of your ashcat "Shovelbutt" Simmons. Ol' Shovelbutt ought to have that little tea kettle perculatin' nicely, an' that toasty warm backhead ought to feel mighty good once you're up in that cab.
It's already bad up on the pass. In fact, "Shotgun" Leonard was OS'd past Black Bear station... but Alpine City ain't seen hide nor hair of 'im. Hopefully he's stalled out with a freight somewhere up in the canyon past Black Bear. We're all prayin' he's not off the rails and down in the canyon, but this is narrer gauge railroadin' in the Rockies. Anythin' kin happen. Seein' as we're the only thing movin' this side of the pass within reach, we're called to drop what we wuz doin' an' go help 'im out an' try to git 'im up over the pass before it snows-in up on Red Mountain Pass.
Time's a'wastin, so you pick up yer pace to climb aboard the loud handle side an' git started. Might pretty well be a long 'un, this go'round. Hopefully the extra vittles from Maude's place yer carryin in the basket will hold you an' ol' Shovelbutt 'til you kin get back to somewhere warm..."

Forced coupler sound on the VL Niagara
I painted and installed the retaining walls that connect the upper and lower levels. To the left of the short wall, I’ll build, paint, and install the remaining retaining wall for the grade sometime in the near future. I was also able to cover the newly created elevated section with some basic ground cover. I only created this area to break up all of the flatness. Plus, I wanted to get rid of the odd pieces of Homasote I had hanging around

Sirt the floor boards of that gondola need some attention. They;re in too good shape for your rolling stock.

I decided to add a fence around my station, but an O scale fence was a little too tall. I managed to find an HO Atlas wrought iron fence on eBay. Besides being an absolute pain to try and line up it turned out pretty good.
February 12 is Abraham Lincoln's birthday, so I took out my Lionel Lincoln Funeral train, along with some marching Union soldiers to display.
The metal soldiers' bayonets on the rifles have curled a bit while in storage, but the men still step lively in tribute to the late President.
Along with the steam engine and presidential coach, an add-on set of cars was available at the time.
A variation on the presidential seal is on the 16-wheeled car, "United States."
Nashville is one of the locomotives used on the multi-railroad trip from Washington to Springfield, IL. For a stretch of track in Ohio, this engine served the CC&C Railroad.

If you have never seen Bob's layout, it is worth going to the convention just to be able to go visit it. One of the country's most spectacular O scale layouts.
Not much happened this week.....work was very busy....this morning I find myself relaxing by refurbishing old Plasticville and Marx structures for inclusion in the December 2019 Modular Group raffle......One of our members (Bob Buehler) has a train business and he donates pieces from collections he acquires.....I work them into usable structures for our raffle layout.
Going through piles of stuff......I came across a set of trestles....
Here is the brochure........I can't remember anything about this product.....anyone have any ideas?

gloomy weather lingers over the yard area,
as trains are being made up for the day...
things are looking up as newly assembled train leaves the yard...
but not too long later, as an incoming freight arrives,
a severe thunder storm moves in suddenly...
bet ya that one gave the train crew a thrill...
dark skies still linger shortly after the storm passes thru...
as the trains keep rolling on...
ABout a year ago, JDS upgraded to PS3 and modified this B&O doodlebug with full seating and exhaust smoke. This week I was lucky enough to find a dummy trailer to go with it. Added passangers today, LED lighting is next to match the power unit.

Three of the MTH Premier Chesapeake & Ohio PS-1 50' box car with The Chessie Route slogan and sleeping kitten graphic have different visual appearances on each side. These were experiments to see what new Chesapeake & Ohio visual identity should be chosen. There are two or three more C&O box cars to be made in this series.

Here’s a pic of Mason’s Niagara 6005 with the semi-scale cars from the 1990 Hudson.
We have been progressing on the waterfall and lake area.
Next job to scratch build some culverts for the track without bridges.
The area to the left of what Mason has now named Lake Pacifica has planning for oil exploration. A Lionel oil derrick is in transit from the USA.

Yes I agree beautiful craftsmanship Rodger love the back ground I’m up here at the foothills of the Ozarks always liked The Springfield area.
