For my layout's late 40s era, the Pennsy had one RS-1, an AS10s (ALCO Switcher 1000hp Steam), it purchased for passenger service.  It was Cab# 5906 and planned to be used around Baltimore.  The most noticeable thing about it was an exhaust stack just in front of the cab for the steam generator.  I have the early Atlas RS-1 that I am looking at modifying to make it the AS10s.  Adding the exhaust stack should not be that hard.  My biggest concern is putting the correct cab number on it without having to repaint the whole engine.  Adding it to my project list.

I decided to place a few trains on display in my dining room.  Sometimes, I have them out for a couple of weeks, and other times for months.  I spent way more time deciding what to put out next than I need to, but here is the result of all that mental distress I put myself through.

I decided to go with a trio of Reading Company trains.  All are K-Line 1990s trains.  Far left is the very well detailed Crusader.  The display area is kind of short, so only the locomotive and two observation cars are out.  Middle is a typical K-Line 4-6-2 with green accents and yellow trim.  This came in a set with two freight cars and a caboose. On the right is an A-A set of Alco FAs.  This is a custom made locomotive commissioned by the Schuylkill Haven Borough Days planning committee. A few of my freight cars add to it to make it a train.

Certainly not prototypical or realistic but I think they are still fun to watch.  A fully restored and repainted Marx Commodore Vanderbilt tinplate passenger train and  reproduction Lionel 1917 army train circle my all tinplate all the time MASSIVE 3x4 layout.  Everything on the layout is tin.
