I am in the process of adding 17 inches to the end of the layout down at the club. I really wanted to get a station on that level. We still had some extra lumber sitting in the back.

At first I was going to use this station but I decided to exchange it for the one on the next level.

I will have to do some scenery work. More than likely I will move the large white building and place it next to the orange one. One of our members, Graham Claytor, has an extra MTH power station that he is willing to loan us and that will go where the tall white and the small round building is now is now.

Photos show my model of New Haven Railroad ALCo RS-1 #0668 (Atlas O 6888-2, MSRP $429.95, delivered March 2004). The locomotive is running at 21.6 scale-miles-per-hour in the videos taken on my 10’-by-5’ layout.

ALCO produced RS-1s between 1941 and 1960. They were powered by a 1,000 horsepower 539T diesel engine, weighed 240,000 pounds and had a top speed of 60 mph. New Haven #0668 (Class DERS-1b) was delivered in 1948. Five New Haven RS-1s lasted into the Penn Central era that began in 1969.

On a separate note, I started the process of "repurposing" buildings already constructed to see which ones might still be used......and, if they don't work, they will be sold or given away....

I have a small corner with a spur off a spur. I thought this building might work....

This building got its start in a previous house in the 90s. A 14x30 layout with Lionel track and switches, featuring four loops, two with wide radius curves and action accessories.

I think you can see it way in the distance....go straight back from my son's right ear and look over the Jersey Central caboose.

....a few better looks.....

The 1st two pictures are pre-OGR Forum and from 1999......these next two are from 2002......

Have a great and safe weekend, folks......

A 2022 Christmas Layout memory

This Howard Johnson building was a gift from a friend.  He's'not into trains so the concept of "o" doesn't register with him but I'm OK with him giving me this HO sized building.  I put it in the back.  He gave to me the cars, people and tele poles too.  He and his family visit my Christmas layout each year so I try to use it when I can.

I wish it was 'O' because it's really a nice building, and being in Pittsburgh it's an iconic restaurant

Loved ice cream sodas at Howard Johnson's (HJ), and love this HJ model. Arnold

Just finished up a weathering/detailing job on a box car. 3B73FDB2-7E19-4CB2-B7F8-8375A0CE6C2FC8418FD0-27ED-4D89-A510-5DBC7AE70BBB
Then on Thursday got a call from one of the train crews. They had a car with wheel issues. Figured it was the usual anything to get away with pulling the car. Boy was I wrong. Someone left the hand brake on and slid the wheel pretty pretty good.

Now I saved the biggest for last. My wife and I had our first daughter Friday morning. Penelope aka Pennsy, the wife took this photo once we got home. 268BB49C-96E9-4327-9D85-D6D8CBA5B373

What a cutie, I’ll bet she’s dreaming of playing with daddy’s trains. Congrats and Best wishes to you and your wife.
