And I'll bet that one of the regular bakery customers is the Road Foreman of Engines, who stops in most days and eats a bear claw with his mid-morning cup of coffee.  According to Trainmaster George Dado, you can identify the Road Foreman in a crowd.  He'll be the one with the large stomach and the blank stare.

Number 90 (Tom), apologies for contacting you on this thread (you don't have email address in your forum profile); but, contact me via the email address in my profile if you have any information on reproduction RR dinnerware vendors.  I've googled my fingers to the point of calluses w/o success.  Would really like to have non-railroad/model railroading friends to dinner with replica dinnerware, printed menus, etc.--if I could make the table and chairs rock to-and-fro I'd do that, as well.

To the OP; I apologize deeply for this off-topic foray in your thread.  Forgive me.

EDIT:  Good news; Number 90 emailed me this a.m.

GN 3390 and GN 2584 double head on the Oriental Limited.  A washout on the Great Northern has forced a detour over the Northern Pacific and Homestake Pass.

The locomotive on the point is 3rd Rail's model of the GN O-8 Mikado, the largest Mikes ever built.  The trailing locomotive is an MTH of the GN S-2 Northern, the first class of Northern ever built with 80" drive wheels.

The O-8 just came out of the Hikel Layouts and Trains backshop after conversion to ProtoSound 2.  With the upgrade the Mikado now speed matches beautifully with other Proto2 or Proto3 equipped steam, electric and diesel locomotives for consisting or running as a manned helper.

I can't wait to receive 3rd Rail's model of the Timken Locomotive.  It will definitely be the subject of Weekend Photo Fun pictures and more.

Very busy day today with the National Capital Trackers at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico, VA. My new  Legacy ES44 got a real workout and performed well.  Here's a photo as it heads up a long stack train. Marines are disembarking from a helicopter in the background.

We're back tomorrow from 9-4.

On occasion, people donate trains. This morning (or the night before), someone dropped off some trains of various scales. This one was of particular interest as it's a complete Marklin Z-scale layout with a Plexiglas lid. It also had two complete trains. I'm going to clean up the track and test it. The thought is that it would make a nice end table since the club can't use it.

On the O Scale front, in response to a visitor's request, I brought down some scale-wheeled locomotives. The train initially consisted of six Atlas 89-foot flats and three recently-acquired Lionel 86-foot excess-height box cars headed up by a pair of ATSF C40-8W's. When I added four Atlas articulated auto carriers, the C40's started slipping, so I swapped them out for three CNW locomotives -- 2 C44-9w's and a C40-8. They handled the train well.

For those of you that don't look at the 2 rail section, you owe it to yourself to take a look at Erik Lindgren's Early Piggyback project thread, very inspiring.  He takes it to a new level.   https://ogrforum.com/t...ly-piggyback-project

So inspiring, it has started to cost me a few bucks.  I should also thank Roger Wasson for bringing the Weaver Campbell 66 Express TOFC to my attention, a nice one.

BTW - Tom it's in your honor, being near 66 and all.

Yep, I remember!

Great loco--smooth runner, great sound.  Sometimes picky about the cleanliness of track but withal an excellent purchase!

Nice to see my Frisco 4-6-0, again. You bought it from me a couple of years ago. Great

I bought the same loco again in New York Central, as that is my thing (and it's a NYC

prototype). It runs well, also. One of Lionel's best.

A followup on that Z Scale layout someone dropped off.

  • The lighting works
  • The turnout machines are trying to work.
  • The track is filthy
  • There were three locomotives instead of two -- a 1-4-1, a 1-3-0, and a 0-3-0 (German). Pleasant surprise is they all work.
  • The buildings lit up when I plugged it in.

Looks like the two hard parts will be cleaning track you need a magnifying glass to see and cleaning up the turnouts. It's definitely a conversation piece end table as it's a bit too small to be a coffee table.

Thanks for the kick in the pants, Howard.  I need to get on the ball with TOFC (especially one of the Campbell trailers).
