Jackiejr-  I so very much appreciate your kind words! Thank you!  Yes I do have lots of fun with my layout  I totally enjoy creating scenes/vignettes  and photographing them as well.  I wish my layout was large enough ( as we all wish our layouts could be larger ) so I could create and hold fast many of the scenes I've created throughout the years.

Back in 2016 as I prepared to shoot photos for the OGR Magazine feature ( Run 290 ) on my layout, I bought a camera and lighting equipment .. then photography also became a hobby.  I have over 7,000 photos of various scenic scenarios on my layout and I love to experiment with lighting and various camera angels of the same subject.    I do like the idea and practice of regularly changing scenes on the layout, for just like in real life the only constant is change.  With this in mind, the fun will always be and my layout will never be completed

Thanks you too for starting the wonderful thread " What did you do on your layout today?"  That thread has been most inspiring to me over the years!

Next, the return of a classic......one of my 1st big purchases....the 1983 20th Century Ltd......ABA F3s and passenger cars.

A few years ago I had Mr Timko re-wheel it for traction tires.....since I use Atlas track.....

Now, it has been expertly upgraded to TMCC/RS by Mike Regan of TrainWorx.

It is in AB configuration today......I will be breaking out the other A unit and the 7 passenger cars soon.

Howdy. It's been awhile since I posted but I have been lurking. Today, on a RAINY, gloomy day, I spent some time running a train and dusting. Sheesh, that stuff just keeps coming. Some of the photos below were before I dusted! Some are the same old, same old, as things haven't changed that much recently. I have been working on a traction kit-bash. Here's a question: what company is moving into my town? Here is another: what building is from a paper kit? And finally: where is the farmer's daughter? This is so you have to pay a little attention not because anything is worthy. Hope you enjoy,

Jim K

I was in Marietta, GA a few weeks ago and visited the “General.” For those of you who don’t know, the General and the Texas were involved in the Great Locomotive Chase during the War Between the States.

One of my favorites, Peter. For me, it was my second big buy (my first was a “matching” Pennsy F3 ABA with 8 ribbed aluminum passenger cars). I’ve thought about having it upgraded, but it always seemed so expensive. So both sets grace the back wall of my train room as long shelf queens!!!

If you bought the ERR boards I'd do it for you, if you were local. It's really easy to do.

Walt , I think probably Patrick did not distinguish that there was  two comments. Yours and mine.  Not responding to you was probably an oversight on his part. He might have been having a senior moment because I am not the person who started the thread he mentioned. He did answer your question I think?

Jeff, your layout is looking great! Watched your You Tube video of the switcher as well. Great backdrop, particularly the shadows in the mountains. Did you paint it?

Keep posting more photos.

Hi Neal.  Thank you!  Yes I paint the backdrops.  I enjoy that part of the hobby very much.  I have much to do still, including the mountains on the left half of the layout which are now just sort of primed in.  Your backdrops are top notch an inspirational, and I think our styles of painting and layout are similar!  Mine is less realistic because of space constraints, but its all a balance!

You posted one of your best paintings this weekend, with the road.  I have a similar scene in the works on the upper right side of my layout, but the road is on an angle, so its a challenge.  I just pick at stuff all over the layout, so who knows when I will finish that!

Thanks, Lou, but other than I am not local (I’m on the far side of PA), I’ve a number of more pressing issues to deal with over the next few months - not the least of which is having my 2nd knee replacement in about a month.

I went out to Greenberg's Train Show in Edison NJ on Saturday, lots of great sights I didn't buy anything this time around, but there was a bunch of great things. I saw a 763E which after doing some other research at home I believe was a 2226W for $2,100. Raritan Valley Hi-Railers had a great showing with their layout, MTH had a booth, and saw something quite new. RDG Creations, models by Rich DeGennaro(last bunch of pictures). I talked to him before leaving and said he should definitely go to York. His models look great, are all hand built no kits.

Thank You Dennis for the compliment. Maybe I am not clear what a kitbash is;  but this is scratch built no kits involved. A lot of detail accessories for sure. Thanks again.

No problem Peter. One of the things I really enjoy seeing is their layout and new additions. I really have to get into the habit of trying to chat with some of them but usually they are pretty busy operating and talking to other people(and I wind up moving along with my friends). I believe the stream is one of the newest editions as I know it wasn't there last year(though I did miss out on other shows later in the year).
