New to the fleet.

Continuing with my theme of Observation cars, this week is the Texas Special. This car is from the Lionel 15" set that has proved to be one of the most popular and sought after passenger car sets. The paint job is stunning and it makes a terrific addition to any layout.

New Tug arrived from a fellow forumite..... its home is being built in a vacant corner.  At least it gives me a good reason to put the lighthouse back on the new layout! 

The corner is a lift out area to get to the track for cleaning and such.  I also built a concrete walk and seawall along the water.  I'll use some rock and trees to hide the ends to blend it in. 

People are already out and enjoying the new portside walkway!  

An update on some gantry cranes I was working on.  I painted them but still need to create the lift arms.

I have made some renovations on my layout over the last 5 months (my post: not quite a complete redo on scenery and structures) yet still have a few nagging head scratcher areas to rework.  Hopefully I can deal with those this fall and winter.  But for now I can run trains.

A new business has opened in Spencer called Moe's garage that specializes in service to Studebakers.  I see a '58 Studebaker Golden Hawk sitting outside waiting for then to open for the day.

Probably the best money I have ever spent in this hobby!

Have a great weekend everyone!  My contribution to this week's thread is a video I shot last weekend.  As you will see, I rounded up some of the freight cars that I've weathered over the past past 6 months or so and did a relatively slow "roll-by". 

I posted a similar video on this past Sunday's "Scenic Showcase" thread, but that one was with a pair of CNJ ALCo RSD4's and CNJ caboose, while this one was shot with a pair of D&H engines and a D&H caboose that was scratch-built for me by Brother Love (Malcolm).  I apologize for the video quality...it was shot with my iPhone.

And right next to a GM&O version. Boy, good stuff. I occasionally go on a search for a

MTH ICG RS-1, but no luck so far. "GM&O" and later "ICG" used to be on my paycheck, so

I'd like to have both (have the GM&O).

The California Zephyr Leaving Chicago.

Low-end Lionels; the GM&O one has a 25-year-old paint/decal job (I seem to remember that it was painted for the Lehigh Valley). Over-weathered.

The L&N was done 3 - 4 years ago. 

I like these things, huge flaws (huge pilot gap!) and all; body shell and truck side frame

tooling is actually good. The gearing....whew.

The most popular and sought after with good reason Brian.   That set is gorgeous!!

Happen week-end... Adding ground cover to the yard wher you see green there will be dirt og gravel. More pictures soon...

Nice cliff, the rock looks great, and the backdrop blends very well.

LOS the pictures this week are outstanding,  PTC with his Obs car, Mikey featuring his Cal Zephyr, but my favorite has to be yours for two reasons.  

1. Santa Fe F3's and a SF Northern.

2. Your pictures have movement and sound.

Keep them comming guys.  The bar is set pretty high but the weekend is just starting.

This one has 45 and 54 inch curves.  It can nest inside my other larger ones

i could run smaller steam or trolleys on these tighter turns.  Big boys prohibited !
