A 2023 Christmas Layout memory

I live in Pittsburgh, home to the famous Duquesne Incline which is ALWAYS shown during sporting events here.  My version is NOT an attempt at realism or "look alike".  It's merely representative of it.

The round sign is a Miler animated lited sign.

I wish I had a better picture of it that showed the 'building' at the bottom of the incline that is supposed to represent the waiting area for passengers, but I don't

For this weekend, I ran two trains behind Maine Central locomotives on my 12’-by-8’ model railroad.

Maine Central Class W 2-8-0 Consolidation steam locomotive #501 (model by Weaver) headed a freight train with three boxcars – including Bangor & Aroostook #1407 (Weaver/CMP), Maine Central #36123 (Atlas O), and Rutland #8086 (MTH).

Maine Central F3 diesel locomotive #686 (model by MTH Premier) headed a passenger train with a consist of two Boston & Maine heavyweight coaches by MTH.

The Boston & Maine Railroad was a part owner of the Maine Central and equipment from both railroads was sometimes used on passenger trains between Boston and Portland, Maine.

I built the bridges on the layout from wood kits by Miami Valley Products.

Setting up for the two week show in Colonial Hts/Petersburg VA.......

If you live anywhere near us, come on done (or up or over).

There are two N gauge layouts, two O gauge, one HO, and one Lego; along with hundreds of antique cars, trucks, busses and tractors......

Our O Gauge layout is 20x55 (Four of us are joint members of RC3R and National Capitol Trackers.....Tom (Gilly@N&W) and I built two transition models so that we could combine modules from both groups where ours has three parallel tracks......and we also are using three Tracker modules.........

Also, a few of our guys are not going to be here (vacation). Consequently, instead of being responsible for 18 linear feet, I'm doing 26......This is where I use my "emergency city" (eight Lionel buildings bought at blow-out prices at York in the early teens and saved for emergencies).

Thanks Scott for getting rolling for this fine weekend!  Here are my photos of the fun kind.  I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe weekend!

Train watching in Patsburg reveals a switching move with an A5 ready to shove a B&O Timesaver boxcar as a Reading Train Master, at the point of a mixed freight train, glides by on the adjacent track.

This is a glimpse of the train pulled by the Reading Train Master.

A glance to my right I have a clear view of the yard and all its' goings on.

A train made up by an A5 waits for its' road power to arrive.

Over at the yard;  operations continue with the A5 earning its' keep.

Do you see the ball players outside?

What ball players?

I caught a bit of that movie yesterday, from when Ray and Terrance were at Fenway until they picked up young Archie Graham along the highwy.

Finally making real progress on putting my two rail, European 0 scale layout back together. It had been in storage for three years, but now that I am retired, I have both the time and space to renovate and improve the layout. The past couple of weeks I added interior lighting and building interiors will follow. Miketg

I added 2 more cabooses to my collection today. Just finished 2 railing these two. The I-12 is a Lionel that was stripped and repainted.  I have some new markers on the way, the original markers had zinc pest and disintegrated.  The PA cabin is a MTH factory painted caboose that I added some details to.  All plastic cast on handrails were replaced with brass. The steps got new see through trades and I built a new underframe with brake detail.  The trucks are Intermountain with IM wheels.

Incredible work.  Are those see through treads commercially available or do you make them yourself?
