Here's a K-Line EV, smoking caboose that was originally painted in BC Rail colors.  I needed something to go with my scale NH EP5, so armed with a number of NH decals I decided to do a fantasy version.

I evicted the K-Line S gauge brakeman and replaced him with an O gauge guy in the cupola.  The front porch got a light too

Always hungry for revenue, the new van got tossed into service immediately.

Here are some pictures of the Mahoning Valley Railroad Heritage Association Museum open house yesterday. Have a good weekend.

My friend George and I took a whirlwind trip to Strasburg yesterday, Saturday 7/30. About a 2.5 hour drive one way for us (just a half hour past York). We took out usual route to York - felt strange not doing that drive in April or October!

I was last at Strasburg March 2007, George hadn't been in nearly a decade. We had a great time despite the dreary weather. Last I was in Strasburg, I rode the #7312 0-6-0 Canadian National locomotive. I've been told it has been out of service for several years. Hope to see it run again soon. This visit saw #90 and #475 operating together. We started at the Railroad Museum of Pa, Strasburg Railroad for a ride on the Cagney (partially rained out, got half way!), off to a quick lunch in town, back to the TCA Museum, Choo Choo Barn, Strasburg Train Shop and finally a ride on the train in the open air cars behind #90. The rain let up at this point and we had a great ride on the back platform on the way back!

Live Steam demos with a G Gauge live steamer. Lots of interested kids - good to see. Also a very interested Boy Scout troop getting hands on experience with the Museum's G Gauge switching layout.

That's magnificent.  Did you build that staircase yourself or is that from a kit?  If it's a kit, whose kit is it?  If you built it, what materials did you use (e.g., plastruct pieces, basswood, etc.)?  Do you have a plan you can share?  They're great.

Interesting- that pink "2037" at the TCA museum is actually an MPC 4-4-2.  The Katy boxcar appears to be MPC as well.

This past winter, I decided it was time to start over on my layout. Two years ago I had back surgery. My old layout was too wide for me to reach. It hurt both to crawl under and pop up, or to crawl over the layout. So, my wife and I started having a standard date night on Friday. We would go out to eat, come home and work down stairs dismantling, and start building the bench work. We finished the bench work this weekend. What is left to do is build a shelf along the bottom of the center island and build storage shelves along the front of the layout and the center island. The overall dimensions are 14.5’ x 22.5’. Then we’ll start laying some track and wiring. Can’t wait!

That is really neat!  That's awesome that your wife is involved!! Nice work!

Great looking paint scheme, Bruce. Good enough to be real and goes well with the NH's attractive paint scheme..

Peter, Great looking building. I'm sure it was well worth the effort and time you put in it. Miller has a great looking illuminated Woolworth sign (same graphics) that would look real good on that model.

Gentlemen, Yes, I did sell My Complete Century Club 2 Collection. I sold it to 1 individual at a fair price that was mutually agreed upon. I did not say that I sold my complete Train Collection, just the Century Club 2, every piece made, or Offerred by Lionel. Over the next few years, I will be selling off the rest of my train collection.  We are getting ready to downsize our home so their will be lots of changes in our lifestyle.  After we get through downsizing, We plan to travel. Yes, it's time....Happy Railroading....

You have a real touch at everything you put your hands and imagination and skills of observation to, GEF, epitomized by this scene. I had to look carefully to make sure it wasn't real-life. If the figure hadn't been familiar to me in modeling, I actually would not have been sure.

And I especially appreciate how the boulders are featured and situated, giving a true sense of Glacial Erratics (typically granite from Canada dropped by melting ice along the east coast  and New England areas of the USA,) having been deposited where streams were established long ago by the retreating, melting glaciers. The colors, shapes, and textures, and even the type of rocks are perfect. Also, the random detritus is very, very realistic and true, including all the colors and tones.

GEF, Upon first seeing the modeled scene of yours I showed above, I was reminded immediately of a real-life spot I stopped to photograph along a scenery adventure I took some years ago along Rt.11 in Upstate NY and Pennsylvania. To me, they are speaking the same language.
