Let's get Weekend Photo Fun started.

Last Sunday the WB&A Chapter of the TCA visited the Virginia Museum of Transportation. The layout was made available to them to run their trains.

It's Friday!

As you can see in the following 2 shots, I started the fun task of painting the rails!
The Wabash Heritage ACe leading a coal drag.

NS SW1500 drops off a boxcar at the plumbing supply company

NS 1070 passing under the PRR signal bridge

A NS GP38-2 & an SD40-2 lead a local past the passenger station

Motive power in the yard -

Usually on Sundays, we take down some of the postwar & MPC stuff to run - Here's 69 year old 221 hauling some freight

Had my assistant conductor with me to run some trains

In the pouring rain, NS ES44DC 7716 leads eastbound 202 under the old N&W coal tower in Vicker, VA on the Christinasburg District - 7/27/15

After catching him leading 22V through NJ the previous day, NS SD90MAC 7279 (ex UP 3510/8051) heads westbound through Hummelstown, PA w/ 25Z - 5/16/15

NS SD60E 6909 (ex NS SD60 6521, UP/HLCX 5984, CNW 8025) in on the point of an eastbound power move past MP 102 on the Harrisburg Line - 5/16/15

Former CR SD60 6282 is on home rails as he leads 11J through Hummelstown, PA on the Harrisburg Line - 5/16/15

NS Dash-9 9006 leads westbound 217 through picturesque Shawsville, VA on the Christiansburg District - 5/16/15

NS Dash-9 9009 leads a westbound manifest out of Montgomery Tunnel on the Christiansburg District - Montgomery, VA -7/27/15

A pair of former Conrail Geeps are back on home rails as they work the Heller Industrial Park w/ SA33 in Dayton, NJ - 5/13/15

Well, Technically it's O-gauge as its for 32 mm track

But it's 16mm scale live steam. I have just prepared it for tomorrows  run on the clubs portable layout. The NYC boxcar is just for reference.

And yes I have tried it on my O-gauge layout. Was it a Success ? No! A live steam loco leaks oil and leaves the track rather messy and doesn't like O31 curves. But a combined circuit in the garden using Gargraves stainless steel track is in the planning.

Found this the other day, in a closet. Forgot that I had it. ETS kind of flopped when it first arrived, and I got this from Micro-Mark(?) for 75.00 back in the early 2000's. I missed out on part of the sale - they had the little 0-4-4-0 for $125.00. Sold out. Blast.

Anyway, except around the smokebox and steam delivery pipes coming from it, it doesn't look specifically "Euro" - in fact, it has a bit too much Disney in the look, but that can be changed; basically it's a little tank loco to which a tender has been added - something done in the real world often back in the day. A little work on the smokebox/steam pipes and a toning-down of the circus paint job - or a re-paint to black-ish - and it;s a nice little short-line Mogul. The pilot is pretty cheesy. ETS used K-line metal trucks on the tender.

It has a 2-position e-unit and sound(!).

As it has no prototype so far as I'm concerned, the 1:45 "scale" is irrelevant. It probably won't stay a wood-burner.

Bruce,

Did you paint that?  I love it.  Good to see other's doing modeling!

Glad you like it.

Yes, it's fresh out of the spray booth yesterday.  Picked up some SF decals at the season starter swap meet last weekend.  The victim was a past purchase, NIB for $10.  It's traditional dimensions didn't warrant doing anything prototypical.  I shaved off the moulded in handrails, replaced with new metal ones while adding a few extras.  By flipping the frame and slightly modifying the mounting holes, I was able to lower the gap between the body and trucks.  I might highlight the brass numerals with background paint to make them stand out more.  A brakeman was installed in the cupola.  I have an old Railking ABA set of warbonnet F3's that can now be pressed into freight service with this addition to the fleet.
