Many railfans, myself included, feel that the Roosevelt Road overpass in Chicago is one of the worlds great trainwatching spots.  Looking towards downtown you see the tracks leading into Union Station with the skyscrapers of downtown Chicago on the horizon. Amtrak and Metra yards are beneath you and trains continually pass underneath you.  

Well, it is nowhere to that scale, but I have sort of a Roosevelt Road scene on my layout.  In this case, the Chicago Union Station is parallel to the passenger yards, but a dedicated railfan could brave the traffic on the highway to watch the activity in the yards and station.

I was disappointed walking out of the Sacramento TTOS train show this morning because nothing caught my eye to buy... then I saw the Wells Fargo stagecoach made by Matchbox.  I’ve been looking for one at a reasonable price for years!  Bought it and put it in front of the bank in the back corner of the layout.  The bank building is a piggy bank Wells Fargo offered in the 1970s I think.

I think that my MTH Premier Santa Fe 3463 Hudson is becoming one of my favorite locomotives, right behind my Lionel F3s. I can see why it was kinda hard to find one. Once you have one it's hard to give up.

Hi Matt Kramer, Like you, I had wanted that Wells Fargo stagecoach, but unlike you, I didn't know I wanted it until I saw it at a trainshow. Once I saw it and had my hands on it, I found it to be good looking and sturdy, so I bought it and figured I'd, someday, think of a way of getting it onto the layout, or just keep it on a shelf in a bookcase.

It occurred to me, seeing several real-life holiday parades, like the Thanksgiving Day parade, in-person, in NYC, as well as seeing the Rose Bowl parade on TV, that having a small-town holiday parade would be a good excuse for having something so unique as the stagecoach on the layout....

... making its way down the main drag in the holiday parade in the village neighborhood......

You mating yours with the bank is a clever touch. That tells me you are a playful guy, doing things your way! And the nearby trees are a nice embellishment of the scene.

I really don’t have a clever touch... I’ve been to Columbia State Park here in California’s gold country and had to mimic what I saw there! Lol!  First I found the bank building in an antique shop... next was finding the stagecoach.

Eventually when I build a more permanent layout with larger space I’ll do a more detailed scene.

Frank, another great scene from you. Last night I worked a bit on the PVC pipe but ran out of glue I was using. A number of  days ago I had gone to Menards and bought three packages of the glue and I could not find one of them last night nor could I remember where I put them. This morning I had to run to the grocery store and I lucked out and got the last package of glue they had so at least I can go back to working on th PVC pipe today.............Paul

First I'd like to thank

Coach Joe, No chutes for this build. Although it would be a great addition.

Redball , as for my layout I'm actually Just starting the layout room. The room is bare and needs heat and lighting, room size is 26 X 15. In the very near future I will start shooting video's of the progress.

 Open houses will resume next September

If i might add every weekend, weekend photo fun gets better and better. The layouts and scene's are outstanding.

Yes it does is why we have them on there!!!
