This is actually the first of the 4 Dorfan tank cars I have acquired. Been laying around, so time to ready it for revenue service. I will leave it without the straps, but it now has trucks (arrived yesterday) and a brake wheel. Ladders, wheels and axles are from a McCoy donor car.

Also grabbed up the Lionel 1680F tank car from the 1940-'41 Firestone merchandise sets. The sets contained the common 1679 Baby Ruth boxcar, 1682 caboose, a 1664 loco and a 1689T tender but this version of the tank car was produced especially for these sets with no Sunoco or Shell locos, much like the Ives 1680.

Hi Tinplate Friends
I've managed to switch my website to something much more manageable. If you go to www.myworldoftrains.shutterfly.com and follow the simple instructions you'll see plenty of O gauge tinplate.
Enjoy. Use my E mail address on file if you have any comments.

Love that Flyer stuff Greg!

beautiful Flyer Greg
Robert I've never seen that NKP car...I'll be looking for one now.
thanks George. It's not complete yet, but the engine and the tender both came from numerous junk box finds and parts deals.

I'm going to string some power-lines along a few poles on my mainline and I needed an end-point at the 305 bridge. I made this little junction-box-looking-thing using a block of wood, a bit of cardboard, some silver paint, two nails and a couple of repro insulators I got from George Tebolt:
Printed the warning-sign from the web and added a bit of ground-foam after painting. Hopefully it works. I'm going to use some stretchy jewelry wire I found at Michael's for the line. I'm hoping that holds up in the face of wildly exuberant arm-swinging visitors...

They came in a few colors and different numbers of bulbs. They are still in business, but not making stuff like that anymore. http://www.kramerproducts.com/

I stumbled onto two of the green lights.
I just saw several of the 4 bulb version at a hobby shop yesterday. They also came in black. I have a set of red and a set of black.
The red ones are at the ends of the top shelf.
