From 1938 till 1963 British Hornby made in their Hornby Dublo (00 gauge) series many all metal lithographed tinplate passenger and freight cars. The Hornby Dublo TPO (Travelling Post Office) operating royal mail van was a popular accessory. The van and the line side apparatus, including an operating switch and some mail bags, came as a set in a box; the line side apparatus is integrated in a full length straight Hornby Dublo 3-rail metal track. The operation is electrical for which a fourth rail is present. This set was made between 1959 and 1963; it is an all metal set.
Mail bags to be delivered are disposed (shot) from the first opening into the bin; a mailbag hanging on the stand will be picked up by the net in the second opening.
Here is a video of the operation:

Fred
Hi love the colors on that car Fred. I was looking at some Exley O coaches the other day and thought they were very nice indeed. I also very much like the Hornby Dublo 00 trains.
Chris...
Super idea for a lamp!...I have one piece of standard gauge track I found in a home depot parking lot...and have my eye on a shorty caboose that I might be able to get if all goes well...

Wasn't the guy willing to haggle to $0.65?
Seriously, nice get for a buck!

Nice find pd! The journal covers alone go for about $1 a piece.
Its been a busy week, so I didn't have time to take any new photos. These are some from the archives. The Blueboard Central Division of American Flyer Lines had a visit from an Ives passenger train.

Beautiful set Greg...orange tinplate always looks sharp!

It better be behind it or I'm going to smack him.
Nice lamp, Chris--what a great idea!!
A japanese loco made by KTM during the 50"s and imported in USA. Standard motorisation that can be used on many of their products, three rails AC.
Have a nice tinplate weekend, Daniel

This caboose started out a sad looking old caboose that had seen better days. I restored it a few years back. In answer to your question I drilled a 1/2” hole in the roof to save room so the base could be smaller. It is serving a more useful purpose now and I could always find another roof easily enough if I wanted to put it back into service. Sorry Joe!

Looks good Chris, what a great idea.
not too much new; two new peeps from Pride Lines, and a MTH Std. gauge yellow/red bumper for my spur at the back of my original 155 Freight Shed

Greg:
I always enjoy the photos you post from you collection but, in a way, I'm glad it has "been a busy week" for you. I can't recall seeing pictures of your layout and these are great.
Please don't hesitate to post others now and again just to round things out. It's a great presentation. I particularly like the look of your oak benchwork and would love to see more of it next time your have the opportunity.
Always looking for ideas,
Steven J. Serenska
I agree with Serenska. And I always enjoy your presentations of original box to actual model. Thanks guys. I'm getting the itch to see some of my guys making some noise.
Very cool William, that looks like a pre-Christmas trial run!
Truth is, that is from two winters back. Got a wee bit sick last year. Motivation to lay some track perhaps. I think I'm going to go with a dogbone oval, no crossover this time. My thinking is, why beat up ninety year old engines over the crossover. We'll see how it goes. Pretty sweet whistle on that 385W! I hope it still sounds that good. Cheers.
I also avoid crossovers and switches on my layout for that same reason! :-)
All black 384 on a night run with 500 freights. All original prewar. Banging the diamonds. Thinking of taking out the diamonds to reduce the banging this time. Reduce the stress on these nice engines. I'm sure you can see why. It does make a nice racket though. Hammer down!
Hey Steamer - I hope there is room for a set of pick up rollers on that beast.
Found this super sweet ETS flatcar w/logs today. It’s my first ETS piece, now I must have more!!!
Interestingly, its equipped with lobster claw style couplers. It looks great in a regular consist but will need transition cars to run with other tinplate. Too bad mth cancelled the ones I pre- ordered a couple years ago. I guess I will have to get off my duff and crank out my own.

How do you like it? I've been real tempted to try and get a few of their four wheel tank cars and reefers as they are very colorful.

Nice peeps. I just purchased a set of 3 station figures. They looked good from the pics, however, I guess I will find out when they arrive? I am wondering if their peeps are for Standard or closer to O-Gauge. I am not real familiar with Pride Lines.

I liked that when I saw it too. Pretty cool how you added those nice small pieces to your layout. You have a good eye. Enjoy your talent.
Well the weekends almost over but I did get a chance to work on my dollar special Lionel 116 car. A few months ago I went to a train show in KC and one vendor had a couple of old ratty standard gauge car bodies for sale for $1 each so I bought the 116 an the 112 he had. This weekend I got to refinish the 116 and add some trucks I had. The body did have some rust pitting but it still looks good enough for my basement floor layout. See below;
KWISOR, Is the third one a 1915 Model T? Very nice.

I like it very much. The construction is really solid. I also got a 4 wheel gondola that went in the Christmas present pile. The logs are all glues together, which is fine with me. The logs are not glued to the car however so you could change them out with ease if you desired. I think I may what to start saving for a locomotive. After all - they are the only O gauge manufacturer offering a Beyer Garrett!!

Or a O gauge Steeple Cab. I might have to get a few cars for mine to pull.
