what does 50cents get you nowadays? went to a show last Sunday with my Dad. First seller I came to had several junk boxes under his table, and the first box I looked at had a sign that said "All Items $1", which I took to mean $1 each. I heard the seller say "give me 50 cents and take the whole box" Amongst the bunch of broken SP Cabooses, and Flyer S Gauge cabooses, and steamer shell, some Marx 3/16 trucks,a 2620 frame with intact yoke,a pair of 2655 boxcar bodies (I was pretty sure I had a frame at home),a frame for a Scout boxcar (had a good body at home)and some other odds and ends. Then for $2 I picked up a 6520 Searchlight body with good generator,a $6 Marx searchlight tower (the bulbs even worked),I spotted a 1684 motor for $15 the seller offered for $10.Picked up two nice 7" Marx cars that will get the 3/16 trucks.

I had trucks and mounting plates for the 6520,the 1684 motor went into a 259E shell I picked up last year, scrounged some trucks for the engine I had in the bin, just need to fab a front motor mount.Pretty good week.Lots of good prices on stuff.

great pics Chris.

Belgium is not known for their model or toy train manufacturing; GILS is one of the view. Here are shown a lithographed small tinplate coach and gondola, which are based on the same frame and are the size of Hornby M0; the gondola has no markings, the coach has the marking Made in Belgium. I do not know who was the maker.

Greg, those American Flyer trains are really beautifull, i need to find some AF trains to add to the collection, many thanks for all the models you present each week and the lesson of AF.

JEP trains today, the last JEP production of passenger cars. They are a modernisation of the Fleche d'Or cars produced thirty years before.

Have a great tinplate weekend and Happy Easter,

HWN made a similar side-opening gondola, only longer. Graphics look pretty close too. This is Walt Hiteshew's photo but I think the photo is washed out. Mine is much browner than this one.

As always, nice job Chris!!

Here's a little project I have been working on here and there since December. It started out as a roached out American Flyer Silver Bullet tender shell I picked up for $2 back in December. I re-profiled the shell on my stationary belt sander. The under frame is from a Marx scale tin tank car. Since I had a couple of Marx Reading cabeese I decided to letter this tender for the Reading as well.

I found the following on this interesting website: The original Distler company ceased trading in Germany in 1962, although the Distler name continued in Belgium until 1968, trading as Distler Toys SA, in Nivelles, Belgium. So now I assume that the two small cars are Belgian Distler.
