My last 'find' on my trip turned out to be a kitten!
On my way back home, I stopped in Duncannon, PA to shoot the bridge again. While setting up my gear, I hear a crying sound down by the bottom of the bridge, near the river. I walked down there & there was this kitten in a box! After I brought her back up to track level I expected her to run off. Nope! She was so friendly! Climbing all over me, sitting on my head! I tried to call 2 shelters in PA, but neither would take her. I couldn't leave her there, as I knew she wouldn't survive. So she took the 9 hour car ride back with me! Vet gave her a clean bill of health & said she's about 2 months old. Lucia named her Abby & now she is part of our family
Some nice photos this week. Beginning 1951, the Delta-Mendota Canal transports Sacramento River water south along the semi-arid west side of California’s San Joaquin Valley. Water means fertile fields. Farmers and packing sheds were the main customers on the Southern Pacific’s West Side Line. However, Espee’s “Owl” passenger trains Nos. 57 & 58, one of the SP’s oldest name trains, used this secondary main too. On hot summer nights when sleep was impossible, the haunting sound from the Owl locomotive’s steam whistle was heard for many miles.
Good job Chris. Abby the Tabby has a nice new home.

Cats know who will take care of them. The strays are always the most loveable.
Nice thing to do.

THANK YOU for your kindness!!!! My wife and I did cat rescue for years and still care for the local feral cats. She sure is a good looking kittie!! THX!
PS...didn'y know so many others had posted this...but still needed to...
Christopher looks like we have a new forum mascot! How does she like your train layout?
We have three abbeys, My daughter and wife finds them. We love them all. they love the trains(the cats) one is a Himalayan and the vet thinks she is over 20 years old, that is old enough to drive and get married in this state.

I haven't let her in the train room yet. I'll do it over the weekend when I have more time to watch her

no need to thank me! I wouldn't have done anything else! My wife & I did cat rescue for years when we lived in Brooklyn. So sad! My other 2 are rescues from a shelter. They are 10 years old. I wasn't planning on keeping her, as we also have 2 dogs & the 2 other cats. No shelter in PA that I called would take her & I wasn't going to leave her trackside
Christopher:
Nice story and nice rescue. She sure is a beautiful looking cat and is very lucky to have found a home with wonderful train people.
Nice job Chris.. Made me start my weekend with a smile. We have 3 rescues here.
They are all hoping I finally get back to the train room this weekend.
Bill
Very impressive power plant, Bill.
Good job on the rescue Chris! I couldn't have left that face behind either!
Back home now with access to my files. Here's the same thing I posted earlier with a good shot of my model of the stone arch bridge at Duncannon, PA as posted by Christopher. BTW, if you wonder why the backdrops don't match, his shot is from US 11/15 looking towards the east. Mine is as if you are hovering in a helicopter over the Susquehanna River looking west:
Another work of art by Alex.
Keith,
It is always nice to see your pictures of Lionelville.
Bill,
It is nice to see the pictures of the power plant.

"no need to thank me! I wouldn't have done anything else!"
Well, I thank you to. and my wife of 45 years especially does. She has brought home more critters than I can remember to fix up , clean up and find good homes or stay with us. You and yours deserve a thank you IMO.
