great way to announce a layout remodel.
way to go!
The announcement is befitting a great renovation. What a hoot. Good luck Lee and I am sure you will keep us posted....
PS Who paid a Buck for the newspaper in the 1950? On my route the paper was 65 cents per week....
That track over track was bothering my sleep anyway...
No fair, Lee !!
You stole all my thunder.
MUNOZ LINES to be dismantled !!

Great press release, Lee. Very cleaver.
Tearing down and rebuilding that beautiful layout is very brave but will be very rewarding! Good luck with the build!

"MUNOZ LINES be dismantled !!"
really?
Very nice announcement lee.
I demand to see Building Permits!
Lee, looks like this is going around. I am on my way too!
Here is my train room a week ago. Today I am down to the bare table top on the tables directly behind this and eventually all will be coming down. The subways are test fitting for the "rebuild"
And here is what it was two months ago.
Dear Editor,
Although not yet a citizen of your fine city, I do love it. And I look forward to progress. My what exciting days we live in! And a trolley system!? That would allow me to take the train in for business, and still enable me to get around town without my car. I for one welcome it all and am looking forward to the innovative expansion technics your city is famous for.
Yours truly, Adriatic

If you ever decide to give up engineering, you can find work as a beat writer. Save this announcement as a reference.
Lee,
I always enjoy reading your threads. Those that aren't informational, sure are entertaining!

Two comments, Lee...
Re the mayor's final comments to the opposition?......Wasn't this plagiarized from recent news articles somewhere in the USA? Detroit? Chicago? Newark? ...Can't quite remember!....
Secondly, if Veranda Turbine needs a place to stay during construction, she's welcome to take up residence in my 1:48-ville!
Lee - Very well done and it sounds quite prototypical too. The mayor must have been influenced by "the Chicago way" of dealing with issues.

Sounds like a great new plan for your layout.
Will Water Ski Lake have to be drained for this renovation?
Wonderful write up on the proposed changes.
Happy railroading,
Don
Very well done post starter.
I'm on my next-to-last layout right now. The more you learn, the better the results. Always a work in progress.
I don't know of any other person who would create a newspaper release with such flair and imagination as Lee has done for the readership of the O Gauge Forum. Thanks Lee, you always keep me amused.
I hope all planning was well thought out .... this town can't afford to come in over budget. Quarterly reviews of all spending should be shared with the community.
Lee,
With your proven writing skill, I hope you consider documenting all this work in an article in OGR.

Lee: It sounds like you've really gotten yourself into a project! Nice announcement, however.
Not for me!. I started my layout in 1998 and I'm still working on it. Sure there are additions and minor changes, but at my age, I ain't gonna start over. Be 79 next month and can't get enough energy to really make changes.
But, my hat is off to you. Keep us appraised with photos.

Gosh that table looks NICE...do you make them custom to fit a medium size bedroom layout and offer free delivery?
FUNNY! And now I know what to do with mistletoe!
IF your project is anything like the LIRR Eastside tunnel project I certainly hope you hold the subcontractors accountable!
Love the press release! Hope the project comes under budget! Good luck!
This is gonna happen to my layout .. I want 0-108 on my mainline Or 120
Dennis - It really hits home when I see the wood in the dumpster. Sad to see all that work end up like this, but hopefully a new layout will rise from the ashes.

Seen better days. Nice play on the title. Well done, Lee.
Wait! Wait! Wait!
I haven't seen all of this layout yet.

Whoaaaa wait a minute, what's going on here?

I'm actually replacing only about 40 feet of track (our of 330). I have 96/84/72 on my big loop and 72-60 on my other big loop and will leave that.
I'm replacing all my 'Streets, though, but not to get eider radii, but in order to add block control to pace vehicles better and to rearrange them for switching and helixes.
I also am just to tired of crawling under and working on one area of the layout and want to correct that.
Good luck on the "Redo", I'm sure it will be a true marvel to see! Loved the last layout. Hope you have something to help with the withdrawals, I'm totally down as I build the new control panels and it is hard to not be able run my trains!

Lee,
I tried to pull the plans and permits for your renovation but I have been informed that you have not filed the necessary paperwork. Really Lee? I expected more from you! Who do you have heading up this project Cullen Bohannon?
Oh yeah now I have to subscribe to another periodical in order to keep up with the local news from one of my favorite towns. I wonder what kind of break I’ll get with a two year subscription to the The San Beattadaise Union Monitor?
Good thing all those detectives live in San Beattadaise, they’re going to be pretty busy the next year keeping up with all the corruption that goes along with big projects like this. There seems to be a scandal already developing in the building department.
I have to say that planning and design have been at least half, maybe 2/3, of the fun throughout my time in O-gauge.
For "Streets" I've been toiling trying to come up with a command control track/Street design whereby there'd be RR track/Street Crossings - that too me would be the ultimate fun. Lack of current 2-d space is putting a damper on this.
Great story, Lee! I didn't realize you are literate.
In my world, things are decided by King Schiteraia, and all the work is done by his serfs- a much more boring world than yours!
Fantastic article. I almost believed that this was a real town somewhere. I think Lee should do a press release each month like this to let us know that status of the layout changes.
Uh wait a minute here Lee. Are you planning or have you done an environmental impact study? I did not see that addressed in the article. Specifically, there is the issue of ground water contamination due to large amounts of Simple Green spills and Simple Green runoff. Sorry but that's the world we live in today.
Regards, S
Very clever announcement Lee, good luck with the City Council approving the project!
